Welcome Otterboy....Craigslist is a good place to start your search. What part of the country are you in? Check Craigslist and go from there.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

When I was working in Corporate I was in the field of Industrial Design,  I work with graphics design, and web development.  I've also worked in Outdoor Advertising.   I understand looking after old folks myself as I had
plenty in my family and helped out all I could.

If you look around,  you will find any number of older RV's.  There are actually those little yellow NADA books
that give the values on RV's just like on Cars & Trucks.  Depending on where you are,  RV's may be more common.  Florida and some of the southern and western states may have surpluses of them.  But before you
buy something you really need to go to your Library and start reading books about RV's and learn what you are doing.  Learn about them and their systems.  Many of us here buy high top extended Vans and build them out simply like in my first website below (Van Conversion) and hit the road in a minimalist way.  You will get around just as well, possibly cheaper.  You can buy a membership to any of the nationally syndicated Gyms (such as Planet Fitness for example)  and always have a place to use restrooms,  shower/shave clean up, change into clean clothing,  recharge your Cell/laptop, have free WIFI and  a Lounge with TV.   Your Van would have a kitchenette & bed.   Yesterday I saw a guys rig built on a simple white Van.  he had his spare tire mounted to the back door under a 5000 BTU Air Conditioner built into the window of that door.  He had a 2" receiver hitch with one of those cargo racks mounted in it.  On the rack was a gasoline generator and an cooler for ice etc.  The generator was running and the AC was going so he would have a comfortable place to sleep for awhile.

He was working physical jobs that had him moving around a lot.  But,  you can check out the world of "VA's" (or Virtual Assistants)  These are where you work online from your Van on a parking lot like Walmart, Sam's Club, Lowe's, and others and make a living while mobile.  Sites such as "Guru.com"(and there are many others) can provide you with a "presence" (small web space like Facebook) where those shopping for people with skills can find you.  You may be paid via a source like PayPal or others similarly.

In this way you could travel,  have work and money, and possibly find a good job in the sticks n bricks somewhere and if it pays well enough you could find a simple place to rent or room mate in order to pay off student loans and get back out of debt and on our feet.

It is all "doable".

I'd invite you to view my sites below and use anything in them that is of value to you.   The first is about setting up a beginning Van.  (which if you travel to places with comfortable weather you could live year around in it for awhile)   The second is a Portal of helpful information to use before going on the road to plan a journey or while out on the road to find your way around and that which would add to your comfort and convenience.

All the Best !   (and remember,  you may not need a "Big RV Rig" to do this.  They do use fuel and fuel may not always be as cheap as it is now)

Thanks for your info.
I have way around gas , water , after I can find the wright materials money needed to make tools to help my RV experience in the green tech field, of design , this why I prefer a box truck or a RV from the 1979 and older ,, v8 mono black motors can asept HHO for gas that equals free TRAVLE not paying for gas That can run all the kitchen propain ass, such as oven, refrigerators and generator. I can even store HHO gas like propain in a cilnder or propain tank .
I don't have the money to buy a new van yet I know what need to be done on those too yet don't have the computer code reader and computer system wrighter programmer to have the computer brain asept the right gas to air mixture of HHO to the intake or bust bar of a electric fuel injection motor .
I can design and build a RV from the ground up , that was one of the reasons I am thinking of a turn a box truck into a RV . Then I would have the space needed for a Astropheric water generator and still have a nice size place to live .
I'm in Virginia witch I don't real like , yet that why I'm looking for a box truck I found some from u hail , yet there to expensive for me at the moment .
As well I'm a undermined engenner too
Thanks for tips for work on the net
Be good to your self there
