Yesterday I called Verizon to change our plan around. We would like more data. I asked about promotions first and was offered 1gb of shared data monthly for one year at no charge. I said "sign me up" and poof it appeared on my account.
I thought i'd share this so all those on VZ can take advantage also. We're paying for the service, we may as well get all we can out of it.
Cheers

You can often also get better deals/early upgrades by calling and threatening to change carriers. If you don't get the answer you want, call back and talk to the next person that answers.

New data plans prepaid if you call vzw. Today I activated a new sim from walmart that was supposed to give me unlimited talk text and one gig data plus one free gig plus one gig signing up for prepay..three gig total each month $45.
Well..the CSR said they could offer me 3 gig plus 1 gig to sign up to prepay $45 total 4 gig $45.
After hanging up with CSR I thought to myself that was too easy so I did a search for vzw prepaid and found a couple stories where vzw is reacting to sprint generous data plans with new higher data options.
Frankly I have been overpaying vzw compared to other providers but they are my only real choice where I live
Just offering heads up to you folks on $45 one gig plan

Can you use the hotspot on your phone with that plan?

We should all be sharing ways to get freebies as often as we can remember.
Surprised there's not more action on this subject...but hey, it's only a gig ;)

Using straighttalk on Verizon towers for three years now. 5gb data. Unlimited talk and text. $45 monthly. I never have issues with connectivity.

How bad is Verison 3G?

At first I found the Red pocket deal with TnT and a gig of 3G data a month. Last night I found a deal that while I'd have to buy another hotspot, gives unlimited 3G or $5 a month. Seeing that 3G is all Verizon has in the mountains it doesn't really matter.

Girlfriend has a iPhone 4g which only has 3G data. Works great. On straight talk. $45 a month.

Called Verizon today. I told them that I heard it was possible to get a free 1gb of data free for 12 months. They said "sure, all you had to do was ask". That was all it took. Thanks for the tip!
