I am going to be traveling into an area of Montana that is downwind of the major fires there.  I was just wondering if anyone has looked at how much the smoke in the air is affecting the output of their panels.

I can't tell yet as I've got no load going, but I do think I noticed some.

We just had some good rains and I reckon the skies will be much better.

I can see the mountains in Bozeman clearly for the first time in a month.

A few years back smoke dropped my roof system from 50 amps max to 40 amps max. YMMV depending on how thick the smoke is but it seems to transmit more of the light than a overcast sky.

Up here in the Okanagan I noticed a dramatic drop when the smoke was thick. At the end of the day I was lucky to have my batteries charge up to 13.3v, whereas on a clear day they would be up to 14.4v by noon. Even during winter I'd be getting more watts. My system consists of 530W charging 2 160AH AGM's. ..Willy.
