Just joined the forum and can't wait to renovate my Nissan Frontier. I have a Flippac camper top and I'm planning on heading out west around Sept.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

That is an interesting rig for sure.   I guess you could live in the back end with it folded down when it is cold ?  Then in nicer weather live in the top ?

How do you set that up ?

That's pretty cool! Great place for the kids to ride when traveling....

:)

nice! I'd like one of those, but Flippac has terrible customer service, so I'd have to find one used, not likely
also they are pricey

Welcome, Lisa!

I had never seen one of those Flips. Very cool idea.

When you write "renovate my Frontier.." do you mean you have plans for other parts of the truck in addition to adding the flip thing? Of course, we hope to see more pics.

Looks like you could get way back in the back country with that. Will you be full timing or road tripping?

I'm setting up a bottom floor in the bed with drawers. I can sleep in my truck bed in the cold and have lately. But I like being on top the tent in the summer the best. there is 360 cross breeze. To set it up you put a bar on the bold hinge on the right side of the flippac, push it down and it flips over to the front ot the truck where you hook the legs into brackets mounted on the hood.

I agree with you there. I bought the first one with the truck. They guy had it only 6 months out west and it was in great shape. After 6 years or so the main hing that is imbedded in the fiberglass shell broke. There was no way to fix it so I ordered another one from Flippac. It took almost 3 months to make it, ship it from AZ to FL and when it got here the side window was busted probably in transit. Had to fight to get new window with Flippac. The inner construction was nothing like my first one. Seams aren't straight, extra metal left on tailgate window and just poor workmanship. I love the product for my purposes and will actually go out there to pick one up myself before ordering again. I think because it was going all the way to FL I got the ****** practice model.

LTG,
I really like the design of your topper. If you don't mind my asking..how much do these run $?

Sad to hear the quality isn't good.

I spent around $4000 then had it shipped from AZ for $2500. Not cheap at all.

You had one that broke after 5 years, ordered another with poor workmanship and sounds like you are expecting this one to break eventually as you are willing to go out to them and buy a 3rd one at some point?! You must really like these things!

There is another company, Adventure trailer, that buys Filppacs ,beefs them up (stronger shell) adds amenities, and sells them for about $1000 more than Fippac, they are supposed to be easier to deal with, faster delivery, and a marked improvement of the design

I know...sad isn't it? The first one I had was better constructed.

Checked out the site. The Tacoma Habitat is super cool but I like the sleeping area over the hood that the Flippac has. Also I vend at festivals and need the smallest footprint possible in order to camp behind my vendor booth. Thanks for the info though.
