According to Gary Busey the meaning of the word Fear is a great definition, and as the time comes closer to leaving for the RTR in Jan. I am thinking more and more about this.
F. = False
E. = Evidence
A. = Appearing
R. = Real.
I know this is so right on.  I have those normal fears about going to the RTR, leaving our home, traveling so far away, you know, What IF?????

I am trying to remember this definition so I won't get too stressed before leaving.
We travel well together, we both drive and know that we can do it, but, What IF??????

I just wanted to put this out there, for those who are also going thru the same thoughts and What IF?????

Thanks for letting me put it out there.
I am a worrier.
Can you tell? ;)

The What Ifs have stopped a lot of people from following their dreams but we've all been there.
Have a safe and fun trip. You'll be glad that you did it!

Having confidence in the ability to figure out a solution is often a great antidote to FEAR.

Whatever the perceived problem, figure out at least a couple or workarounds for it. Having mentally resolved the situation before it occurs does wonders for lessening any anguish and will also help if you actually do encounter a problem.

I look forward to the what if's.
They make just another day a memorable experience (and maybe a cool story for around a campfire!

We are all alone ,we have ourselves This is a good thing. It allows us to pick and choose, to do with or without. See the big picture. FEAR is what keeps you watching TV and sitting around
Anxiously . You have one life one chance to walk around the block, would you not take this walk? Perhaps I am being a bit presumptuous and forgive me, all the best

You are all so right!!!!!

We are just freaking out, or at least I am, but trying not to show it to Hubby.

I am sure that once we start, it will be hard to decide to come back home.

Thanks for the moral support.

So Glad I found you all!!!

I am looking forward to meeting you at the RTR in Jan. At least the ones who will be able to make it, and I know I will meet so many folks, and so many nice folks. I am just a worrier.

It is said that,  "the longest journey starts with the first step".   (from a Chinese Fortune Cookie I once got with a meal at a Chinese Restaurant)

FEAR creates something called an "Impasse".  (a situation in which no progress is possible)  The only way to bridge the impasse is to study & research a plan of action and then have courage to take that first step.  Once the first step is taken and things get moving the grid lock of fear will diminish and allow for progress.

This is one of the reasons I created the bottom link in my signature lines.   To support those planning and prepping to take that first step.   It's one thing to build and outfit a rig,  but something else to know what to do with it or where to go with it once you leave your driveway.   The site is to help those starting out to think and move in a pro active way once they hit the road.  And I'm always looking for things to make that site better.

When I first started my Van Travels,  about all I had was a couple of old Campground Atlases.  I was a kid back then and there was no internet, Cell Phones, etc like you have today.  It's much easier today with information so
easily at one's finger tips.  That should help lower the FEAR factor.

THANK YOU eDJ!!!!!
I do know that we will be OK once we are on the road. Hopefully, with Gods will we will travel for years to come.

Great moral support!!!!

Gary Busey? That's funny. That acronym for fear has been attributed to Zig Ziglar, Neal Donald Walsch, and my favorite philosopher/sage... unknown :)

I have issues with anxiety and it was really hitting me hard a few weeks ago.  Then one day I set the date I was leaving and it was done.  Now I've completely focused on that date and barring bad weather that's when I'm leaving.

F. = For
E. = Everything
A. = A
R. = Reason

Finding Excuses And Reasons

F#*< Everything And Run

Feelings Expressed Allows Relief

It is funny.
I was reading about Gary the other day, and he said it in the interview.  I am not sure, but I don't think he was alluding to the fact he first said it, but the meaning of.
Thanks Shanna-Travels, for the information.

Yes Headache, that is what we are doing, focusing on when we leave and praying the weather co-operates  too.
I do like your definition of FEAR and the answer to  it too!!!!!
Good and sage advice for sure.
Am working on them both right now.
Hubby has said "he is going" so that is a step in the right direction.  Where are you coming from, if I may ask, that you are also watching the weather?

Copy/pasta, but it has helped me control the rubbery knee issue a few times...

"The Litany Against Fear was a litany spoken by many highly educated people who faced danger or fear during their everyday lives. The litany helped focus their minds in times of peril."

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Thank You Wabbit what a great piece to read.
 I must read this daily, to memorize and be able to refer to as I am finding that Fear is trying to overcome our goals.
Thanks again!!!!

Nothing in life is guaranteed, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, most of the time we just muddle through
Stand, and be true, and when you reach the clearing at the end of the path, you will have no regrets

The origins of this.... Invented by the great science fiction writer Frank Herbert who wrote the most remarkable series called the Dune Chronicles. An epic story and probably the best science fiction story ever. In this most remarkable story it was used by the Bene Gesserit.... a very powerful female group of Mystics, but they were so much more.

You are so Right ArtW.  We don't know when or where the end of our path is and we should leave it with no regrets.
I know nothing is guaranteed, but we all like to think we are in control of our lives but it really is self deception. Just hard to admit, even to ourselves most of the time.
