It was hot and humid not long ago, but they were running a Dr Who marathon, day and night. I recorded and watched them all. Cold and rainy, lately. Last week or so, they ran an NCIS marathon. I just finished the last of those.

I think I can't feel my legs.

I visited family over Xmas.

I watched all 8 seasons of Dexter, in 10 days.

Wonder how much that contributed to there being a sharp knife being twisted back and forth in my lower back right now, or if it was more related to the Pacific Ocean beating me up pretty good on Tuesday. Underwater cartwheels while bear hugging a 9'3".

I had nevet watched The Frank Underwood show but after getting hooked I binged it...
I was a zombie after that. American politics is entertainment.

That's seriously sick!!! :(

Sick, but true. Hundreds of comedians, whole TV crews, make their livings from pointing out the absurdities of our politicians.

The best and brightest leaders are in the top corporate jobs where the proper salaries are. Been sliding that way for decades. I remember back in the 60s that Robert McNamara resigned from Ford as a CEO to become a Secretary of Defense.
I think we get leaders who are good at politics. They have to have a degree of charisma, and ideological fan base and the overall chutzpah. But they are the B team IMHO. This goes for all the first world nations.

A while back when I was still in the sticks n bricks, my daughter came over to spend the holiday with me (Christmas Day? New Years Day?). We sat and watched marathon Hoarders. Disorganization makes me anxious; watching that show had me getting up during the commercials to clean out a drawer or closet or something. Around midnight, she stretched and yawned and announced it was getting late and she was going home. I replied, "Thank God! All that's left is the garage!"

watched a lot of Law and Order SVU lately. just a dozens and dozens of episodes.

As I do not have mainstream TV I use Netflix and Hulu for the little TV I watch.  So certain shows are often available only after the new season starts.  I watch the prior season over a period of days.  When that is done I wait til next season again.  So I am in waiting state now for my favorite shows.  Works for me.
My sister gave me some DVD collections for a few shows that aren't availble via Netflix and Hulu.

Humans just love continuing stories about familiar characters. It is usually TV series, now, but it was the same with radio series and it still is the same for lot of us with books. I like mysteries for light reading. If I enjoyed one of an author's books and he has written more using the same characters, I hunt them all down and read them. Reginald Hill, Tony Hillerman, even James Doss in small doses. And who could not get hooked on Haaissen's Skink? I get drawn in by the characters and have to follow them.

I never got into NCIS: Los Àngeles, tho. I tried. I forced myself to watch several episodes. But the characters just do not do it for me. They don't fit together well. They don't seem to be real enough.

I really enjoy binge watching as opposed to waiting for follow up episodes every week. I don't have a sub to sat or cable so that wouldn't work out anyway. I can easily throw away up to 5 hours for the sake of entertainment at a time. As soon as a full season of whatever show I'm interested in is out I'll watch it usually. Last two seasons were Fargo 1 & 2, before that I did seasons 4 & 5 of The Walking Dead. Went back to watch 1, 2 & 3 after that for a refresh and proceeded to watch 6 up until the mid season finale. Not all at the same time, mind you, but definitely enough hours at a time to qualify as binge watching. I used to never watch television shows but I'm convinced they've become much better in quality over the last decade.

Well, this is disappointing.  Based on the title, ENTERTAINMENT OR OBSESSION, I assumed this thread would be about sex.

Regards
John

Good one,OP.Vic could sit for hours watching the various Law and Order shows. She has a new one now called Castle.I'll stick to being a news junkie.

In general I find that TV has gotten insipid and mindless over the last few decades, but with the occasional gem among the dross.  One reason I gave up mainstream TV years ago.  I haven't missed it overall.
DVD collections are good too.

The nail in the coffin for me was when they started put Ancient Aliens on the History  Channel.
