Hello Bob and Tribe and thank you Bob for your warm invitation to this community.

I live in Pacific Grove CA. I hope to be rolling, rolling, rolling out of this lovely but expensive town in the Fall. My first van conversion is going slowly, s l o w l y, s  l  o  w  l  y. Yet I am committed to Amazon CamperForce labor and a van campsite in October. All I need is (1) Encouragement because I'm flagging, doing this without having met anyone in person who is also a beginner, and (2the elusive just-right van, which may be named "Unicorn" because weeks of searching suggest that it doesn't exist.

I'm a DONK - Dog Obsessed No Kids. My owner, Auddie the Deaf & Perfect Dalmatian, and I will move out of our house in September to travel in our new home, inshallah. I worry about keeping Auddie safe and comfortable when The Food (me) is out working for 8-10 hours a day. Sooo many unknowns ahead: maybe Vanna will change her name to The Question Lady...

OK - might as well jump here:
  • Do any of you good people know of a used high-top Mercedes or Dodge Sprinter 2500, 3500 or Cargo with no more than 75K miles on it, in good condition, for under $25,000? (Do tribespeople enter those questions in another part of this extensive site?)
  • If anyone with van building in their history is within the sound of my voice and might like to chit-chat about van life and build-outs, would you allow me take you out for coffee and pastries (fat pills?)?
May each of you find safety, pleasure and outrageous luck in your travels!

Vanna! Welcome to the CRVL forums! I know some folks that worked for Amazon and helped with each other's dogs.

We've got some good shoppers, here. You'll want to let people know how far your willing to travel.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

I am in San Francisco and do some painting down your way. I can and am able to encourage you, tips and suggestions recommendations on vehicles and the like.

Hi Vanna White, love your user name!
I feel your pain looking for the right vehicle.  I've spent weeks and weeks looking for the right travel trailer.  But I'm staying optimistic the right one is out there.
Best wishes on your search!

Welcome aboard Vannah !

I had a Dalmatian for 16 all on the road
years. She loved to ride almost an much as RUN!

Here are the searches for those criteria, roughly:

craigslist within 200mi of you
craigslist w/o odometer field, because people don't always use that and put the odo reading in the text of the ad
ebay within 200mi of you

The searches can be refined to exclude various unwanted matches but, as Julius Sumner Miller used to say, "I will leave that as an exercise for the student."

Note:  Craigslist will let you save the search by adding the RSS (lower right corner) to a feed reader.  eBay will send daily matches.  So once you get the searches the way you want the new stuff will come to you. :)

Yikes! Thank you. I am touched by your responses. (Some may say I'm already a bit touched.) I'll respond to each with my super duper site-navigating expertise.

So, the rumors are true...you DID leave the show...

:D

Whoaaa, there tx2sturgis - back it up! Check out WheelofFortune.com - Vanna's back for Season 35 and looking 35 too.  She is one resilient cookie. Surf around to learn about what she has gone through - her life has not always been a bed of roses. Of course a few mil always helps, but she was not born with the mils in her mouth.

Maybe Vanna knows someone who knows someone who has "my" van...

Roll ON!

Oh I wouldn't have a clue...I don't watch tv OR game shows.

But I do remember in years past, there was always Hollywood gossip talk of her leaving....

35....geeze.

:p
