Going on now! The highlight of the event will be this coming weekend, July 24th-July 28th, with many tribes participating in drumming, dancing and FREE FOOD in the woods! Everything is free! There is no admission. You can approach from the west, or you can take the Inchellium ferry from Gifford. The ferry leaves Gifford every :15 and :45 til 9:45pm. The ferry leaves Inchellium on the top and bottom of every hour. More info on Washington State Ferries website.
Folks are already up there building sweat lodges, preparing the kitchen, and setting up the gathering. This is the 40th anniversary of the Inchellium Sobriety Camp Out and Pow Wow. While there will be ongoing NA and AA meetings throughout the gathering, I go there in support of my partner - I am not an addict myself - but anyone who is interested in self-improvement will find much joy at this gathering. Swimming in the river. Campfires. Music music music. Dancing!
Community kitchen - bring what you can. Last year elders donated salmon - we couldn't eat it all because there was so much! The food is GOOD! If you don't have anything, that is okay too. We just want you to come! No hookups. No electricity. No internet. Real human connection!

Hands down, this is one of my favorite events. The event originated forty years ago because of how hard alcoholism and addiction hit the Native communities. When trying to figure out what to do about it, it was revealed that the path to healing was to offer help to others, thus the event was born as a collaboration between addicts in recovery and the Native tribes of the area, mainly the Inchellium tribe.
Come one come all!
I will be in my red Dodge Grand Caravan, with a bike rack on the back, and a rainbow pride flag in a blue bucket. Come say hi! Park by me! I am focalizing the unofficial LGBTQ+IA area/tea/coffee/kids toy/sharing table there. Red and white tent (looks kind of like a Pokeball, if you have kids/grandkids, you'll know the reference!), and my 10 year old son and partner and I will be there!
Hope to see some Cheap RV Living folks there!
Sincerely,
Angie Dittrich
