We've been being good this month and saved a few bucks while sitting pat in Tucson taking care of medical stuff and getting to see old friends. We've been pinching pennies till old Abe nearly chocked.
Tonight we decided to treat ourselves by riding bikes (3 blocks) to an old favorite haunt of many years, called Boondocks (I've mentioned it before).
Boondocks is a neighborhood crowd of mostly retired regulars with a good mix of the younger bunch in the area. A fairly large place that serves good home style food and burgers with something for all tastes at affordable prices. (breakfasts/biscuits & gravy till noon).
I had beef tips and noodles with salad and garlic bread and Margie had the ever popular 1/3# cheeseburger (open face) with phat fries.
The local Budweiser distributor had a cutie giving away T shirts and goodies with the purchase of a Bud Lite, so Margie (not a beer drinker) broke down and and scored a (nice Hanes T) shirt , coozy, and key ring. I had 2 drafts. Total bill, 18.75 + $5 tip. Well worth dipping into our month's savings.
But wait, there's more (as they say on TV)....
They had a local band (often do) that was well rounded and funny as all git out
They did something from all the genres, including their wild, extended rendition of Kid Rock's "Feel Like Making Love (to you)". The whole place was on their feet waving in the air and singing along. Servers had to take a break for a good 15 minutes.
The whole show was great and rocked the house with most every song.
Quirky, decadent, funny, good voices, great instrumentals and all from 7 old, gray, bearded fogies with well worn instruments.
For a little over 20 bucks we had another great time down in the boondocks.
If you're ever in Tucson be sure to check out Boondocks...you can even park overnight in your van/RV (let bartender know, as they own the property). Very friendly place.

Wish I'd taken a cam with us.
