My day so far, how's yours?

: )
Two years ago while digging next to newark international airport putting in 4 foot pipe, my coworker gave me the all clear to take a scoop of dirt. A few seconds later the entire area around the airport was in the dark. In front of me a high power electric line sparked for the next few hours till they came to fix it.
And yes, we did call before we dug. The ground was marked, but digging there is like digging through spaghetti; pipes everywhere and in every which direction.

Interesting concept!! :D

Dumping a load sideways, wonder if it will catch on..

I retired from underground utilities. Mine was water. there are many interesting stories. I still have a limp.

Were you an operator or labor?

That's electric, but I've done almost everything.

I had a friend on a crew that uncovered a small chest of civil war era silver and coins while digging footings (or something constructiony like that) in a vacant lot.

Lead. (engineer, operator, foreman, survey, only man on an emergency repair. it goes on.) Operated every thing from a trowel to an excavator. I was even on an old Cat with cable drums.
