My impression = most people here will only point out that it's an old thread if the new post-er seems to be waiting on an answer they're unlikely to get (because only the OP could answer it and they don't seem to be around anymore). IOW as a courtesy to the new post-er. Otherwise people generally seem happy to let it go because the revived threads do, more often than not, have new value. For example, that "discrimination against vanlifers" thread seems to keep reviving even though the OP is long gone.
