I'm looking to get internet "on the road" but I haven't been able to find any good options for Canadians. Unlimited data plans aren't a thing here apparently. I couldn't find much online. I really need some sort of internet connection for my laptop to be able to do my schoolwork. Any Canadian dwellers out there with suggestions?

Don’t have an answer for you but would goto howardforums.com

One of the forums has to do with Canadian phone companies. Root around in those forums to see what has been discussed recently (plans change quickly) and in one you should be able to ask about the best plans for your area of living.

Almost There doesn't have a good answer...sigh!

There's no such thing in Canada (that I know of) except when you're in a S&B. And then it's pricey!

I use Virgin Mobile in Canada but live on less than half the data that I get for less money when in the US. I take full advantage of free wifi anywhere I can find it to stretch my data plan usage.

I put my Cdn phone on 'vacation' when I head south so that I keep that phone number year round...it's tied to all my legal stuff.

I then stop at the closest Verizon outlet in the states and activate my second phone (the Cdn phone won't work on US networks) I use Verizon in th US because they have the best coverage and as good as any other company when it comes to data plans. I usually end up with somewhere near 10 gigs of data a month with a rollover plan. It varies from year to year depending on what the best deal is.

Canadian here. All the (Ontario) van dwellers I know, myself included, use a Mifi device from Bell and the 'Mobile Internet Plus' plan. It's not cheap. It starts at $60 for 5GB, and goes up to $150 for 50GB, with overage charges at $3/GB after 50. There's a similar plan with Rogers, slightly more expensive. Bell has the best coverage across the country that I've found though.

I work remotely (and use Netflix and YouTube on low quality), and on average I'm $130-150 a month, with some months going over that. I monitor data use carefully with an extension on my Macbook and through the Bell app.

One day I hope we get better internet options here, but for now - use free wifi as much as possible, or pay out the rear for convenient data.

(PS love your channel)
