Have full sized Transit, mid roof, mid length, now w/ platform bed only. Thinking about next van w/ shower and maybe kitchen, but want to keep it very basic and simple. Curious about what others have purchased of built. Used for a lot of 4-5 day trips for hiking, biking etc.

Hi Steepndeep, welcome to the forum. I'm planning to buy a Transit soon. I wonder how much of a problem it would be to find parking for an extended length Transit.

Not much problem. W/ hitch rack on back I do have to pick spots that don't leave us hanging too far out the back into traffic, but overall it's not a big deal. Recommend the 3.5 V6 twin turbo- gets 20mpg on hwy even going fairly fast. No oil consumption, quiet- very happy.

Sort of depends on where you try to park. Parallel parking in a city would be a problem. A store parking lot would be far less of a problem. Parking in the boonies would be no problem at all.

My van with its' 23 foot length (spare tire on front) has not been a problem. I do usually park farther out and find a pull through spot though. I take up two parking spaces (lengthwise) this way. It is a lot easier to pull out going forward than trying to back out too.
