Communication with FB

I have been a rare holdout on having anything to do with FaceBook.   I am a private person, and old school.   Just the idea that I have to give away some of my privacy for this has stopped me in the past.

Can I build a fake ID?  I haven't gone to look around on FB because I won't give Zuckerman any part of me to sell to the corporate world.    But, honestly...just being on the net has done that to some degree already.

So...anyone built a Fake profile?   Just to have the means to go check out other family who use this tool (the kids and grandkids).

You really don't have to give FB any information that you don't want to... don't want your face on there, post a favorite picture. Fake your age, etc.

I don't have any information in there at all including where I went to school...not interested in finding any of the kids I went to school with anyways. Employment - nada, interests - blank.

I am finding friends that I haven't been in touch with for 20 years and it's kind of  nice finding them...there's no pressure to carry on deep conversations about what I've been up to all this time. OTOH, I wonder what they've been doing...

ha, I went on face book to look around and next thing you know I had my own page and everything. what really pissed me off was they got into my email addresses and sent everybody on that a notification that I was on face book. %$^& @#$# !!@#$ &*^%$. I'm on under a fake name but ( like highdesertranger says ) they now have my email address so if you do it use a fake name AND a new email account. I really don't like the whole concept and only use it to see what some of my family and friends have posted.

I use a pseudonym and a separate email from my main one due to a stalking incident.

I even downloaded a separate browser just for Facebook. I'm under the name Van Partment.

how in the heck does that happen? is facebook a google site and you where signed in to google chrome?
i would be sending some pretty heated emails back to whoever
