Glenn, who blogs at "To Simplify," posted yesterday with a regard to a cold brew coffee maker yesterday (or maybe this morning).

Anyone use one? I'm looking forward to Glenn's review of the item. Hi C yndi, I had a friend who has now passed, but who did this very thing as far back as I knew him. He invented his own rig from scrap stuff because that was who he was...a very inventive junk scrounger and unwilling participant in the consumer rat race.

He made a used a tripod salvaged from old lab supplies, and took a gallon plastic wide-mouth jug, with the bottom cut out of it and trimmed out the center of the steel/plastic lid. He think he may have bought the filters but they were the same size as the lid and fit down in it....the jug fit on the tripod upside down and he would buy the cheapest coffee he could find on sale and fill up the jug with the ground coffee....
He put a container under the tripod and dripped water through it for some amount of time until he had a perscribed amount of extract.. I do not know the numbers for all that, but it made excellent coffee by the cup....
The trick is you need refrigeration to keep the extract....

Here is a way to avoid buying the unit:

http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Cold-Brew-Coffee/

I think it is a good way to go if you have a way to keep the extract and don't have much money to buy quality coffee.....if you use better coffee you win even more!
Hurry and get this going so I can try some when I get there Cyn!
Bri
Thanks for the instructables link, Bri! When you're up this way you'll have to make due with my brewed coffee. All projects are on hold until after the new knee installation

OK, I'll just be happy to see you.... Hope I get there before your knee surg....when is it again...I seem to remember June or July....?????
B ri
