Tickets

Still accepting nomad artists and small businesses. Space is limited though.

Wondering what the ticket fee covers? Looks like camping fees?

Are there presenters, and who would they be?

A simple google search indicates this is about a four month old business, and as of 2/16/22 the owner John Vedder is concerned about efforts by the County where it is located to shut it down.

Would fees be refunded if this happened?

We checked with the city, the county and the judge who heard the case (we won), that the event will not be canceled or closed. If something happens? Absolutely. 100%!

The fees covers parking your RV/Skoolie/Van, porta-potties, water, and the community kitchen which has gas grills.

The workshop and roundtable presenters are volunteers and John the owner. We're a brand new start-up and because of the county, we are having trouble securing more people to do workshops. There are no extra charges for those who attend the workshops. The event is about community and we genuinely want to help people learn from each other. If anyone wants to volunteer and receive free marketing - email us.

One thing we are doing to make up for it - having a big pig roasting/potluck on the last weekend. We have a new firepit, the playground was recently completed and we have a couple more surprises planned.

It sounds like there is ongoing litigation by the county against CobbtownAcres, as an online video from February said you were “safe for another month”.

What is the county trying at this time to stop you from doing or being?

Full disclosure for any who might travel to your location in Georgia while this is ongoing would be helpful.

You sound like an excellent resource, particularly being east of the Mississippi, and I wish you well in this endeavor.

Oh this sounds like a great place! Unfortunate the local authorities are giving you so much trouble. I thought this was America!

Part of the reasoning is something we can't disclose publicly. I'm genuinely sorry and I wish we could but we can't. I can say that part of that reasoning has absolutely nothing to do with Cobbtown Acres, we're just an unfortunate victim of it. Because of the genuine reason though, they changed the ordinances which would radically change Cobbtown Acres, enforce CTA to raise the monthly rent to an unreasonable amount that is unaffordable to those who need our type of business the most. This is why we are fighting. We won the case with the changes we had to make - install a separate tank, put up a privacy fence and secure a few things.

Cobbtown Acres started as a sole proprietorship and moved to a LLC with the genuine intention of helping the community and anyone who wanted to convert a school bus into something comfortable for traveling.

We are most definitely open for anyone who would like to do a DIY build. Once the judge sees Cobbtown Acres is absolutely complying, the month ax will be taken away. However, we are still going to fight to keep our DIY business the way it was legally set up for, with affordable prices.

Thank you.

It looks like Cobbtown Acres is an RV park of sorts, charging a daily/weekly/monthly fee for users to park there and work on their rigs?

That may be part of the zoning issue.

Good luck to you.

Cobbtown Acres was set up legally as a DIY rental workspace for home on wheels in October 2021. We are not an RV park. If we became an RV park, we would have to charge anywhere between $500 - $600 a month + electricity. One of the things we are doing, is showing the county who we are - a DIY workspace and an asset to the community. Cobbtown Acres has spoken with several local businesses and they understand our guests shop at their businesses. This has increased revenue and brought in seasonal employees. We haven't run into a local business yet that complains about CTA.

Ahhh, that helps, but may prove to be a fine distinction for your county rule makers.

I hope these business owners will speak up on your behalf, perhaps sign a petition of support.

Agree. We're hoping for that too.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Cobbtown Acres is genuinely sorry to cancel the first Cobbtown Acres Nomadic Adventures. We are devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA, but Candler County Commissioners have made it impossible for us to continue with the event. We have explored multiple options to move it to a new location, but with less than 2 months planning, it’s unfortunately not possible. We understand the gravity of the situation, for all of those who made plans to be in Georgia, for the artists, DIY builders and businesses who were looking forward to the event – for both social and business purposes. We are working hard to bring you an even better and unique DIY rental workspace with a community that cares. We will have a future Cobbtown Acres Nomadic Adventures, just not this year. Cobbtown Acres will be refunding all those who made paid reservations and paid for vendor spaces, it will take up to 30 days to receive your refund. A lot of discussion and researching happened before this decision, we are truly sorry.
We are still having our March event on Saturday March 19th

If you are able to attend, we would truly love to have you, to do some Spring cleaning (yard sale), celebrate Spring (potluck) and celebrate Holi – a tradition that celebrates Good triumphing over Evil…. Although Cobbtown Acres is experiencing difficult times so early in the beginning, it only means that our future; ours and the Cobbtown Acres community, will be bigger, better and brighter in the following years.
With love and light,
Cobbtown Acres
