clamp on meter polarity

When reading amps with a clamp meter am i supposed to clamp it on the 
positive or negitive?i

It doesn't matter, but only clamp it around one wire.

yep doesn't matter. not know what type of meter you are talking about it's kinda of hard to tell you how it react. I will try. on an analog gauge it will read according to the orientation of the meter. it will measure the flow as positive amp flow or negative amp flow depending if you put it on the pos or neg wire. on a digital it will just put a little minus sign in front of the number for neg flow and nothing in front of the pos flow numbers. it's up to you to figure out which way the electrons are flowing on both types. hope this helps. highdesertranger
