So I sold my house about a month ago and want to go 100% nomad or so I believe.

I rented 500 sqft workshop and built an 8x10 insulated room in it and have it air-conditioned...I'm in FL and it's hot. I work from it (I do internet marketing) and use the other space to store the stuff I haven't yet sold that came from my house. I sold or gave away most of the stuff, so I have just enough room for what remained.

I stay at the workshop all day and I sleep at night at a walmart in an SUV that's just 1 mile away.

So I want to get a van and leaning towards a chevy express. My initial thought is to buy something cheap and later if the lifestyle really suits me, buy a newer model van.

I found a 2001 extended with 137K and having it checked out tomorrow by a local mechanic. If it doesn't need anything major I will likely buy it.

So my questions is...

Does any know if the interior dimensions/design from a 2001 to say a 2015 or so model is different?

My plan would be to build it out and use over the next year and if all is going well, then upgrade to a newer model and just move everything from the 01 to 15 or so. It would really suck to find that there was something very different that would require a bunch of new work.

I'm pretty sure I'm suited for this lifestyle. However, the only thing that I could see that would put an end to it is if I can't stay cool. During the hot months, I will have to have AC. I've been testing out a little Frigidaire wall unit that is 410 watts / 3.8 amps and it should work great. Just need the power to run it 12-14 hours per day on the hottest days.

At night currently, when I'm in the SUV, I have two 10" 02cool smart power fans and stay comfortable and sleep from about midnight/1am to 8am/9am. After that, the heat starts coming on and you need AC.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Rent the newer model for a cheap day (low miles) and measure the **** out of it.

No difference in interior dimensions except, of course, extended ones are different from regular length ones. The only real changes between first and second generations are engines and a revised front hood and grill.

Good to know
Thanks

They don't change the main bodies because of the tooling costs so as long as you stick with the same length as your current van, nothing should be different.
But I'm almost certain that when the time comes you will have several design changes in mind...these things just make you think " can I do this?" It's never ending but that's cool because it keeps you occupied.
