I have 2 compressor chest style and use the larger for freezing only and the small for fridge any thoughts? As I find one does not do both very well.

I do the same thing - but both of my units are the same size - 65 qt Whynter units.

The fridge is barely big enough for me and the freezer is constantly full to the brim.

BUT, I eat well and have my choice each day of what I want for dinner.

AND I also have ice cream in the freezer. :D

It does take a whole lot more power to keep the freezer at 0 F than it does to keep the fridge at 40 F though.

I do the same thing as well. having a freezer really extend trips to the store. highdesertranger

I have a Engel that I use as a chest freezer in addition to the trailers 5 foot fridge and tiny freezer.

I use an Engel 40 qt as a freezer, and skip having a fridge or large cooler.  I will occasionally use a lunch box sized cooler that I put a frozen water bottle in for something I will use soon.

Any leftovers I generally freeze.  Fresh produce, fruit, condiments etc are all things that I can keep without a cooler.
