If I could get my son to stop cleaning my steel hand wrought skillet, it was a no stick because the last 25 times i just wipe it and use it again. What's with the clean freaks any pan can be a non stick if we just leave em alone.

I run cast iron............my grand mothers, mothers. No handles to lose screws, no thinking wood or metal touching, etc. Just beat it up at dinner and it is there in the morning for eggs, bacon and pancakes. When I was loading my totes, I had all the hardware. I took it o, ut and went with what the wagon trains would carry. I have shocks they did not, I have a wally world they did not.

If it was good enough for them, it is good enough for me.

I bought Orgreenic and have been satisfied with it. I usually just use it for stir fry, though.

Have you tried to season it again? My directions said to season it before the first use and about every six months thereafter. Since I do not use it that often, I have not had to reseason it.

I bought a cheap Teflon coated pan from a restaurant supply place and it's been doing great. I don't cook with oil any more, so a non-stick surface is kinda nice. I'm really careful with it, no metal cooking utensils used, so that helps re. longevity. Was kinda wondering about the ceramic myself, since there are some (anecdotal?) stories floating around about the possible toxic effects of Teflon; I poison myself enuf already with my cookin'.. why add insult to injury. ..Willy.

I'll have to do some reading on the ceramic. I didn't see anything anywhere that would indicate it needed seasoning. That could be the problem. :)

I year ya about a person's own cooking... My own cooking is killing me slowly (cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, etc.) It looks like I might not get out of this alive! (but happy)

Cast iron would be nice. It's just a lot heavier and difficult for me to contend with in the van. I sure like the teflon stuff though... Cleanup is so easy. Like others, I only use plastic utenils and cleaning methods on it... (even eating right out of the skillet with a plastic fork to save on foam plates).

VT

I have found that if you wash frying pan with soap no matter what kind it is stuff will stick to it. When stuff sticks my Teflon pan I season with oil and heat it up and let it cool then it is good to go again. I would do the same with ceramic. I do have a small ceramic pan but haven't used it much.
