I don't mind so much sleeping in the back seat of my truck. I have a 3/4 ton crew cab pickup. My only issue really is the fact that it that the interior is a little too narrow for me to sleep fully lengthwise. Therefore I sleep with my legs bent. When sleeping, I store some of my things up front in the passenger seat and floorboard in the front and some of it on the floor in the back. Then I organize it in the back when i'm getting ready to leave. The things that will not likely get stolen or aren't critical and cheap to replace, I store in the bed. I am still building a shell. I would like to be better able to have my tools organized in the bed without having to worry about them getting stolen. With the shell, the bed can be secured and I can better secure my tools and be better organized.

Any suggestions, please let me know. I do have a 20 foot cargo trailer, but it really hurts on gas mileage.

Well, you have to keep your stuff safe. And yourself safe. Sounds like you need a shell with a bed and storage below said bed real bad. Here is a "homebuilt" shell I think is bordering on the most awesome of awesome-ville.

http://paleotool.com/2012/01/18/the-dog-house-a-k-a-new-truck-topper/

His previous truck build is equally inspiring, as is his Vardo build.

http://paleotool.com/plans-projects-and-patterns/gypsy-truck/

The whole blog is great, if you like primitive technology, hand built but lethal weapons, and of course, homemade shoes.

Or, maybe one of these "cowtown sleepers". I am not completely sure how these work, I think you get a tad more room to stretch out, but one of these and a cover for the bed might be what you need.

http://www.cowtownsleepers.com/sleepers.html
