How do we all feel about taking a bush whiz? Is it acceptable? And what about emptying the grey water (sink water) tanks on camp grounds. Once again, is it acceptable?

I have done both I think far away the better Take a nice little walk and get on with your life.

I've seen a lot of backlash about people dumping grey OR black tanks far where no one is at. This is typically frowned upon because you're inviting unwanted bacteria to a thriving natural habitat that can cause unwanted effects. This is illegal on BLM land. Trees trying to use that water can easily wilt and die! (animals who drink it, too)

I don't think relieving your bowels are a problem, but dumping might be.

It depends on how much is dumped, if a lot of people are dumping their 40 gal tanks in the same place this could cause problems even with the grey water. However if a dish pan of dish water or bath water is dumped occasionally this should not cause a problem. I do this on my property without problems and have put a lot of grey water on the compost (keeps it moist and composting). Just don't dump the grey water to close to a camp site unless you like flies and other insects, the moisture will attract them in dry areas.

I had a couple different farms for 25 years and I marked my territory well. The only time my waste was truly toxic was when the doctor had me drink a radioactive medicine to test for ulcers. Oh, and that time I ate at Taco Bell. :) Waste is natural. Soil is largely worm poop. Water is full of fish waste. My van gets covered with seagull droppings. I wish nature was more hygienic but you'll have to take that up with God, Allah, Mother Nature, or the aliens that created this world. As long as you wash your hands before handling my food, it's all good.

pissing on a bush, sheeting in a hole, or dumping a wash basin is no problem. Any waste, whatever color, that has been held in a storage tank, should not be dumped on public ground or water, period.

You may want to use extreme caution relieving yourself in public though... if you are seen by anyone you could be arrested for public exposure and be forced to register as a sex offender the rest of your life. Imagine if a child saw you, and the police came out... it won't go well for you.

Tis true! But public breastfeeding and riding bicycles naked in Oregon is ok. My brother got a warning from the police because an old lady saw him peeing behind a tree on my dad's property. What's next, no spitting in public? Serenity now, serenity now.

No spitting was one of the very first public health laws. tuberculosis was a very real threat.
