The valve is called a PR2 valve.

Thanks.

I couldn`t find one of those valves anywhere, so I ordered some pex tubing, fittings, valve, and tool
so I can upgrade some of the water lines in the rv.

I have received most of the pex items that I ordered, bur I`m still waiting for one valve to get here.
Today I decided to remove some of the old gray plastic water line up to were the valve broke, and like everything else in this rv, it wasn`t
long before I found the part that was half assed together.

The water outlet on the water tank is half inch, it was reduced down to three eights and what looks like a piece of rubber hose from there to
the water pump. The water pump connection is higher than the water tank, so once connected to the water pump the hose has a slight kink
to it. So reduced water outlet size, and kinked hose to the pump. When you see things like this, it makes you shake your head and wonder
wtf.

Here is the old gray water line that I have removed so far. The white T-fitting is were the water pump connects, the hose to the left goes to the toilet. The connection to the right is the city water connection, and from there it goes around to the valve that broke.

Here is the water pump, and it has been leaking, so it will be replaced.

I'm beginning to feel like my JB Weld repairs were not so bad after all!

I have never used pex before, but its very simple for what it is. Just cut to length, add the fitting you need,
crimp it in place, then install it.

There are kits for rebuilding water pumps , maybe yours has one?

That piece of funky tubing is , well funky !

You have the technology to rebuild it all better than before!

No better feeling than knowing you did it right. And a big check next to that item on your fix it list !

I know there are kits to rebuild the water pump, but it could be the original pump with thirty three years of abuse on it,
so I`m going to buy a new pump.

Hang on to the old one , it could come in handy as a backup ,,,or for transferring water and the like. Leaks won't matter outdoors ! ;)

couple of points,
try to get the water pump level with or below the bottom of the water tank.
get the strainer for the water pump inlet.  it's a stainless fine mesh screen and is cleanable.
if you have a city water hook up you need a regulator and check valves.

here is a diagram for a generic RV water system,

I am not a professional rv tech by any means (but I`m getting there fast), but even I can look at something that was obviously done totally wrong and scratch my head at the newest wtf moment.

In my opinion the water tank should be sitting on a piece of half in plywood to make it level with the pump.
The water outlet on the tank should not have been reduced down to three eights of an inch.
both of these issues will be corrected.

Its going to be quite difficult to add a strainer because of very limited space, but I will see if there is any way possible to do it.

Because of the age of my rv, there are no check valves in the water system. Were can I find these check valves ?, a link or
any information would help.

Thanks.

Mine has a check valve behind the city water inlet (where the hose connects).

And the hose is a good place to put a screen BTW.
There are hose washers with screens built in....

I also put a screen filter on the inlet to the water pump (available at RV parts places).

if you eliminate the city water hook up or never connect to city water, you can eliminate the check valves. the strainer is small, it screws onto the pump and adds about 2 inches to it. highdesertranger

I may be wrong but I seem to remember that the water pump itself functions as a check valve.
(Yup , I've been doing this stuff so long that things I did on my first rig is kinda fuzzy.....no one can know it all , but the tribe as a group can come close) !

most of the newer pumps have a check valve built in. however I would still run one. I would put it on the discharge side of the pump not on the intake side like it shows in the pic. highdesertranger

I just found a good deal on ebay for a replacement water pump. It was the pump, strainer, and two pex fittings for just under
seventy dollars, free shipping. I also ordered two one way check valves from amazon.

As with everything else in my rv that I have rebuilt or replaced, I am trying to bring it up to currant specs or better.
Thanks to those that have given me the information on what to add or upgrade in the water system.

I never would have known to add the check valves, the water strainer, or upgrading to pex water line.
I am only doing the back half of the water system with pex right now, the front part that includes the shower, bathroom sink,
and kitchen sink is going to be very difficult to do, so I will save that part for later.

A hint on the sink plumbing.  Start at the faucet, and work backwards.  It is much easier to not have to fight having exact sizes to hook up.  Run things long, and cut to fit when you reach the new pipe.

I got a pleasant surprise when I got home from work tonight, my new water pump had arrived two days early.
I still don`t have all of the pex fittings that I need, but I have enough that I can start laying things out so I can
at least get an idea of how I want to put it all back together.

In this picture you will see SharkBite and Apollo pex fittings.
When I was buying pex fittings I was told that SharkBite had been replaced by Apollo pex fittings.
They are the same thing, just under a different name.
