I love everything about the ad except the number 300,500

Yeah. I'm not too concerned about the engine but I understand the transmissions on these are their weak point.

I like it and price is reasonable... work him down to $3450.00

LOL. That extra $50 is the deal breaker. Actually, he's looking to trade for my 2001 Suburban.  He'd have to give me a bit of cash.

You haven't spent money until you start spending money on an old diesel.  Do some checking around and just see what an oil change costs.  I love the rig and I love 7.3's but I don't think you have any idea how much routing maintenance on that thing would be.  Keep looking. JMHO

I have a friend who is a diesel mechanic who is walking me through all I can anticipate so I can decide if this is right for me.

thats an awesome rig,can you get your mechanic friend to go look at it?
at first the 300k scares the crap out of you but then thinking,a lot of stuff is dead before 300k so there should be some newer parts on it
those diesels are crazy expensive to rebuild, like $10k but there is always used runner and that era low mileage totaled truck and get engine and trans

or a torch,welder,351 and non electric trans

It's 6 hours from here so I don't think he can go look at it. I'd have to trust my gut and sparse knowledge.

The guy is interested in trading for my 2001 Suburban. I'm thinking the Suburban and $2k would be good.

Just don't trade away a reliable daily driver if it's important to have one...

I've been without a daily driver. If necessary, there's door to door bus service for me here. I'd rather not use it but can do so if I'm without for a while.

Where has she been all my life?

LOL I've seen you around on YT and you flirt with all the gals.

:) Well it likes a good place to start.  What about the owner of the van driving it to you?  If he's interested in your Suburban he could come to you and maybe your mechanic friend could check it out?

At this point he has ceased communication so I'm guessing he has changed his mind about a trade.

The search continues. If anyone knows a way for me to find someone near the D.C. area who will put a high top on a van, please share. That would make my search so much easier. Thanks!!

Do a search for companies that do work on handicap vans.

They all start with a standard cargo/window van and put the high top on before they add the lift ramps.

any competent body shop can put on a hightop
