I have a full sized new(er) bed at home that is about 10 inches high and a full size.  I am thinking maybe I could cut it to fit my van I will buy.  I believe its a memory foam. Has anyone done that?  If so, what did you use to cut it?   (I have back problems and need a firm one.)  I am wondering if it would just be easier to just donate it and but a new one...

If it's foam all the way through, strip off the cover and use an electric carving knife if you have one, otherwise a serrated bread knife works pretty well.

Queen, I don't know what's inside...will have to investigate.  Thanks for the advice.

What Queen said. I did exactly that with a nine inch foam mattress from Bed in a Bag. Worked great.

Memory foam mattresses are usually a layer of memory foam over a conventional mattress that's built with springs. Some might be memory foam over regular, more rigid, foam. To figure out which you have, try bending it. If it flexes only a couple of inches, there's a metal frame inside.

MrNoodly,  I could hardly pick up a corner...too darn heavy and back is weak from having had back surgery.  I think the only option is for me to look inside.  If it's got a regular mattress inside...what a rip off!  TY
