Hi, I had an idea about insulation in my cargo van and wanted to ask the community what they thought..

the metal sidewall of the van is a vapor barrier so I wanted to use that blue natural insulation that they make out of ground up blue jeans and then install 3" or 4" horizontal cedar or mahogany boards over but it with a (1/8" gap between them ) so the wall would breath a little and not trap the air between...
I probably would even the ribs up so the wall was about 2-1/2" thick..
do you see any way moisture can form on the inside of the sheetmetal body..
I plan on installing a good roof fan also.
attached is photo of insulation
Thanks for the replies..

We have two Nissan NV vans. Hubby laughs and says that there are pockets in which you could fit a small child.  He took that blue jean insulation, pulled it into big tufts and stuffed it into the nooks and crannies.  After that, he put Reflectix with spacers. And then the paneling.  For the flatter areas, he put in polyiso ( and the pink panther stuff). Right now we're at altitude (7500') in the 40s with the wind gusting 60+mph) and because I'm a temperature pussy, we're quite toasty with the Wave 3 heater.  With all the insulation, with the heater on, I can sleep and more importantly, get up to pee while naked and  not.shiver like crazy, down into the lower 20s.

But (and this is a big "BUT"), we wouldn't have considered using that blue jean insulation if we were vandwelling anywhere else than the dry West.. And we always have the roof vent cracked (and a front window cracked if the heat is on).

Oops, I just had to turn off the heater as it got too warm.

Hubby mentioned that he had put polyiso over the denim insulation.

Photos are of the different vans in case some has a sharp eye.
