Hi there...I have been looking at cheap land to buy all over the US. I love Arkansas and drive through once or twice a month currently. Some of the cheap lots are within 5 miles of the red river, which was recently flooded severely in the last couple years... what areas in Arkansas would you recommend to buy that are far enough away from major flood zones? I have done a lot research online but your opinion would be valuable. Thanks.

Welcome aboard Erica!

I have been through AR several times and a lot of land there is pretty flat (think rice fields) and an Escapees campground that floods from time to time.

I guess the best way to avoid flooding is gain altitude !

Head for North East Arkansas and you'll find plenty of reasonable land. I too, used to picture Arkansas as flooded delta farmland. Now, I'm happily situated on 33 acres of beautiful Ozark rolling hills property. A pic of one small portion of my land.  :)
