Are these camping towels any good.

I saw those small ... what are they, micro towels? They're made by DryliteTowels, Tek Towels... etc.

Can they be used as a replacement for a full bath towel? I just don't see how they can be that effective....

They're okay to use for something like backpacking where every ounce on your back counts but other than that, I'd stick to real towels. If you're that short on space that the size of the towel counts, you've got too much of something else on board.... :D

Thank you very much! I'm preparing to move into my little Mazda3, so I am trying to figure out these kinds of things.

Yes they work, and they take up almost no space at all compared to regular bath towels. It's just like taking a shower, some people cannot exist without a 20 minute hot stimulating shower, but camping showers are usually about conserving water and much shorter than regular home showers. So decide what works for you and go with it!

To me, a towel is about more than getting me dry. My big, fluffy regular style towel helps me feel less deprived, more civilized.

If you have dry hands from doing things (like work), those 'towels' catch on your rough skin. I bought a package of the smaller cloths, tried them and tossed them. Plastic is not great for everything.

An alternative if you are looking for small/lightweight towels that dry quickly, are the "human chamois" sets from Amazon. Just back from a long trip and these worked out better than I could have hoped for. They are extremely absorbent but dry very, very quickly. It's not exactly the same as a big, fluffy cotton towel, but for weight and size these can't be beat.

Agreed!!!  I choose this life with it's trade/balance of convenience/comfort so I can decide how much of each I want/need; ... I'm not doing it in order to live as a masochist suffering in order to have a few moments of happiness.
