Send some love to Technomadia for, once again, giving us a heads up

Today, "(Tuesday, September 13th) is a big day for Apple:
iOS 10 and watchOS 3 are being released to the public, soon to be installed on hundreds of millions of phones and tablets and wrists around the world..."

Technomadia tells us how not to let that data eating update occur, until you are ready and connected to free wifi

Generally speaking....it's a good idea to wait a few days before downloading the newest iOS, just in case there's any bugs that don't become apparent until they have the masses download and start using the update.
Wifi and plugging your phone into a wall (or other power source) are also advised, because it uses a lot of data if you're not on wifi, and it can take a looong time.
iOS 10 is going to be a rather hefty download.

both my phone and Ipad took about an hour each to download it. Looks good but we'll see.

Thanks cyndi, Subbed to rvmobileinternet.  Looks like a great source. Also Technomadia on you tube.
Been looking at travel options. What a quagmire! Currently attempting to upgrade my understanding of today's mobile technology.
I'm barely hanging in with an old feature phone and two (perfectly functional) computers both with unsupported operating systems.    :s   Both are wired at home. This mobile smart phone business seems needlessly complicated and full of expensive pitfalls.  I'm thinking just use the laptop with a power supply inverter(?), for watching movies and listening to audio books, using real paper maps or downloaded travel maps, and a budget smart phone for mostly talk and text.
My big concern is frying the laptop with a bad converter/inverter/power supply.

Go into "settings">"cellular"> scroll to the bottom and turn off "WiFi Assist.

That should greatly lessen the data gobble.
