If you don't get brakes now,  at least get hubs ready to fit them.

Check out etrailer.com You can see they're not much to buy after, maybe a bit more for labor.

Personally I would save up to get them up front unless staying on the flat

I need different hubs?

Yes, but I believe they can be retro-fitted if and when you decide you need them.

Here's a tutorial on how it can be done.

https://www.etrailer.com/faq-adding-electric-drum-brakes.aspx

Haven't read it all the way through, I don't need them on my cargo trailer, I'm comfortable without them but have at it, if for  no other reason than knowledge (which is power)... :)

Man, I feel like I learn something new every time I read posts!

It really is! I knew nothing about ez lube Dexter axles vs leaf spring axles or exterior GFIs or what a compression fridge was. What is totally awesome is when my skeptical family tosses something at me that they think I know nothing about to supposedly prove that I'm being rash or ignorant. And almost without exception I know more than they do. Geez laws, how much time have I spent on this website, googling and on YT absorbing info? I've got at least the equivalent of an associates degree in Nomad Life by now!

Don't know how much time you're been on YouTube and Google but you're way behind me in time spent here.... :D :D :p

From your profile you've spent an accumulated total of:

4 Days, 1 Hour, 6 Minutes, 3 Seconds

Where can you get sofa foam and how pricey is it?  I could probably manage building a platform if the big box place will cut the pieces for me. My biggest problem is anything that requires raising my arms above my head. Bad wing don't go that high. Means I can't do the roller coaster thing, hang from monkey bars, that kinda thing.
One good source of foam products is thefoamfactory.com. I've purchased from them twice, and been happy both times. Their site has some really good data on foams in general, and their customer service people always seem to have time to talk.

If it helps, I can't do the foam thing either. I have a regular twin mattress in mine. However, it is 4 feet off the floor. I have very little headroom in the bed and quickly learned not to try to sit up in bed. But under the bed is glorious! Storage, dresser, potty and more storage. The rest of the space contains my "kitchen" cupboards, a closet and I can even take a sort of shower in the middle of the room. It ain't fancy, but it's home.

I just don't want to get less (or more) of a trailer than I need. I will have the Suburban for storage so I only need enough for immediate needs: basic clothes, pantry, cooking gear, hygiene needs.

With your Suburban used as your sleeper, your 6X8 trailer could be galley & dining, with storage appropriately split between the two. The Suburban was originally designed with funeral homes in mind so I'm thinking a proper mattress may go back there.

Now that's an interesting idea. If I find my trailer is too small, I could definitely do that. Thanks for thinking outside the 6x8 box!

FYI, might find something that you can apply
Micro slide in camper video.
