In the last couple of months I've had amazon charge me for an item, then charge me again four separate times.  Twice they've dropped off my credit card on their own, but two other times I had to contact them, have them tell me they didn't do it, then called my bank who canceled and reissued my credit card.

Then they sent the wrong item (I got a case of cat food instead of the new tent I ordered), corrected the mistake by sending me the tent and telling me to keep the cat food, then emailed me to say I would be charged for not returning the tent I never got in the first place.

I never had problems with them in the past, this is new for me, is anyone else having issues with amazon?

It has become so bad that I am cultivating local sources for the parts I use most often.

Around Thanksgiving, I had 4 out of 14 items done wrong. For example, I ordered electric switches, and got birthday party hats.   3 months, and 4 hours on the phone later... I had the constant charging the CC stopped.

They have outsourced most of the CS jobs.

^^^ Yes, I just spent a fair amount of time on the phone with "Neal" who I had difficulty understanding and who talked over the top of me so much I finally yelled at him to let me speak.

I think I'm going to go through my wish lists and find local sources.

I have had problems this year. Mostly with used stuff sold as new. Products miss-described on the order page. Generally no problem returning. I did have to demand a paid return label. Their mistake should not cost me money.

I have had enough battles with them that I don't order that often and have found other sources that provide good customer service as sure, there will be some mistakes now and then, but it should be easy and convenient for the customer to resolve the issue. With Amazon, it almost always took at least 3 contacts and screaming in the phone "Supervisor" to get it resolved!

Also, if you try to cancel because of it taking so long to ship, they always change the status to "Shipped" after you try to cancel and get that charge on the card!

i never signed up for amazon,i use ebay or company direct and have never had a problem

instead of ordering a torque wrench from walmart or sears i went to the manufacturer and ordered from them, they will actually care about the product and service

I started using them back in 2003 to order books I couldn't get locally, then expanded to other things that weren't available in my small town. Over the years, I started ordering more and more from them because of the convenience; never had a single problem until the last few months.

Guess it's a good wake up call, time to start buying local or, as Gary suggested, buying direct from the manufacturer.

Weird. Ive never had an issue. And with prime, I order ALOT. Sorry to hear about that though.

Wonder if the problems are regional?

I have a constant flow of Amazon boxes arriving, and my employer receives at least 5 orders a week, and haven't had any issues at all for years.

I've never had reason to speak with their CS, and returns are instantly credited to my account as soon as I click. I've even "returned" ebooks after being disgusted with the quality...once even after reading it and being pissed off at the ending :D

""With Amazon, it almost always took at least 3 contacts and screaming in the phone "Supervisor" to get it resolved!"" I have to say, that has not happened to me. The only reason I shop Amazon is the easy return and refund. I do like the interest free payment plans on the Amazon Store card.

I am so tempted to post the "chat" transcripts I have from Amazon India.   :dodgy:

This nightmare continued from Thanksgiving to Jan 18.

I have one last order with them, it's been "prepping to ship" for about a week and a half. Once it's delivered I'll step away from amazon for a good long while.

Asked about this on another forum I frequent and, like here, it seems to fall into two categories; zero issues ever, and everything was fine until it all went to crap.

Wow, surprised to hear of everyone's problems with Amazon. Their stock just broke $1000 Read an article if you invested $100 with them when they first went public it would be 63k today.

I order A TON from them and have only had a few issues, all of which were easily resolved through emails. A few times they've issued a refund and sent out the new item to replace the orig I was having issues with.

I have never had a problem ordering from them. *shrug*

I lean towards supporting smaller businesses though. The only reason I order from Amazon is the ease and convenience. If they lose that, they lose me.

I've had numerous problems with Amazon and only order from them if the price is really good, or its the only place I can find the item I'm looking for.

Ebay works well for me, so does Walmart.com, and direct suppliers like solar websites and electronic parts websites. One good thing about Walmart.com is the ship to store, when available, means I can physically pick it up at the store, no worries about a package being left on the porch when I'm out of town, and also, I can look at (or in) the box to make sure its the right item, or refuse it and get a refund on the spot.

Amazon is getting so big that customer service can be great, or terrible.

Its a crap shoot anymore.

Another big thank you, not only for the work but for handling all the aggravation!

Absolutely, this is an option that can really benefit us.  WM will aggregate stuff from all over CONUS to your specified location if needed and you can pick it up when you pass through.  It's the retail version of General Delivery.  :)

Hmmm, I wonder if you were going to pass through a state with no sales tax and ordered your stuff to be picked up there....
