Starts at $2800

I don't know which one you get for $2800 but I had him give me a quote on one outta curiosity after seeing an article on them in outside magazine awhile back.  I didn't consider it very fancy, but he quoted $8700.

The video stated it was showing the $4800 trailer and talked about the differences between the $2800 version (like one door vs 2 doors).

the $4800 version looked like all it needed was a 12V battery, some solar panels and some do it yourself effort make it a livable space.

Sounds like you piled on lots of optional stuff rather than trying to save $ and do it yourself for $8K.
What did you add on?

well it's a decent looking trailer for a decent price, but it isn't a teardrop

I forget exactly what I asked him to quote, it was awhile back.  I would build one myself if I did it, so I may have had him price out everything I'd build in my own just to see what someone else would charge for one.  Was more a curiosity thing.

I would always worry that it wouldn't be there when I got back from a supply run. I don't think there is anything easier to steal and re register than a small trailer. I watched many Youtube videos on how easy most trailer locks can be defeated. A small battery operated grinder with a diamond wheel goes through just about any lock.
If you always camp with others and they can watch it, maybe. otherwise, you have to break camp and take it with you.

We had a pop-up stolen when we lived in southern AZ from our yard with a heavy duty hitch-lock in place. We bought this and have been using it for probably 12+ years, the Reese Trailer Keeper:

Seems to me if someone wants to steal something, there will be a way for them to do it.

I have been in the RV world since 1985 and haven't heard of a lot of units that have been stolen.

I figure every time I leave my house, someone may come in and take everything except the two lazy watchdogs.

Actually, the early "teardrops" were quite "boxy" and these days "teardrops and tiny trailers" are a category of their own. I have been obsessed with all types of RVs for years and now focus on the smaller units.

Its a constant struggle. Trailer you can unhitch from and use the tow vehicle leaving your stuff safely or unsafely behind.
Or a Van you can take everything with you everywhere exposing it to risk. Both have security risks.
I don't think there is an easy answer.

I think I would like to convert my trailer wheels and tires to the same size tires as my 4 wheel drive truck so I wouldn't have to carry an extra spare for my trailer and when I got to my long term camping spot I could take off the trailer wheels and put them in the truck for spares when off roading and lower the trailer closer to the ground. Hard to steal a trailer if you have to drag it up on a roll back to move it, most thieves are lazy and my home built would be hard to sell.

running the same size tires on the trailer as the tow vehicle is a great idea. especially if you have the same rims.

if a thief wants something bad enough they will find a way to get it or ef up your stuff trying. highdesertranger

This is one of the best arguments for the minimalist lifestyle
My TV is a $25 thrift shop special, and if it got stolen I'd likely not even bother replacing it
My PC is a cheap Acer model that I'd likely replace with a tablet
My mini fridge cost just at $100
Nothing I own would get you much money at a pawn shop or a fence, so why bother with it? the only exception is my guns, and I keep those as safe as I possibly can
that dinky trailer would likely not be all that tempting to a thief, a real teardrop is more valuable, or an actual Travel trailer
if you can buy it brand new for $2500, what could you sell it for?
Taking the wheels off is a good idea, though a PITA if it's hot out consuming

Snow Gypsy that's interesting about early tears being boxy, I'm on the T&TTT forums and by no means an expert in the history of the teardrop, I think I'll google 'early teardrops' now :)
but didn't early teardrops still have galleys? That thing doesn't look like it does
