part timer boondocker in Fl who seeks & finds free, beautiful campsites

things i look for are
1) free or low cost
2) privacy
3) paddling trails
4) hiking trails

founds tons here but afraid to share, every campsite i go to it seems the more campers the more problems

am i wrong to keep these treasures to myself?

no keep them to yourself. the only time I will share is if someone is traveling with me. I sure would not post them on the internet. I have seen to many spots ruined by people including them in a guide books or posting them on the internet. highdesertranger

I usually find the ones I think are really good are the really difficult ones to get to that even 4x4's can't get to under certain weather conditions, maybe even good conditions, if they are not prepared. There are thousands of them in Utah and northern Arizona and I'm sure Nevada (I haven't been there yet) but would hesitate to post them as people might get themselves in real life and death situations as most of us travel solo when these require at least a backup vehicle. There are plenty of guides and groups that will direct you to the easier ones. As a seasonal park ranger even the National Park Service requires rangers to hide sites from visitors to protect them. I share sites with those I have met or know will take care of them and happily make sure they make it back but would never do more that a general posting on the internet. If someone needs a free place to camp I'll gladly tell them where but it will be some place already used by many and open to everyone that is some what easily accessed. Fortunately that is what most van dwellers want and need.

   You should ONLY email them to me.......

There is no "Tribe" in FLA. Most RV'ers are winter residents only and go for 3 point seasonal resort settings. Case in point in January at Flying Eagle outside of Inverness for the entire week there was only one other party that were there for just two days. The farther North=less campers. After hunting season the panhandle inland is your own private Idaho and staying in Wal-mart at night and using free day use areas that are gulf front is doable.

I've camped many times at Flying Eagles with no one there
But I've also seen it full

Love the town of Inverness great place
Starting Wednesday I'll be camping on the Withlacoochee river about 30 miles from Inverness

I never mind sharing because I rarely use a spot twice and if you are foolish enough to try to get to them......
