It's a good thing I didn't see this before getting my van.

I can see some possibilities there. A fiberglass replacement for the canvas would be cool.
Only prob would be highway speeds for travel.
Shure would be fun tho :D

Isn't it a gas guzzler?

Diesel guzzler, I believe, though there were gasoline versions, too. There were 6x6 versions as well.

Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer, from Austria.

Here's a hardtop variant.

Who needs highways when you have that?

Looks good, but yeah. That highway travel.

I really like the Pinzgauer.

There is a shop on i5 south of Longview Washington i pass on the way to a favorite campground and they have a couple mogs and a pinz now and again. A few years back someone had a Pinz 6x6 they'd built up a camper body on. Looked totally cool. Though even with a camper type box on back it was still just barely stand-able (i think 5'8" headroom??). My wife and i saw an ambulance Pinz 4x4 a couple mounths back near Sweet Home Oregon. Nice rig, but it only had sitting headroom back there (flush with top of cab version).

OH, and according to one wife of a Pinz4x4... they pretty much are useless on the highway for any type of driving comfort, speed (theirs topped out at under 55mph), or MPG (theirs was a gasser that got under 10 mpg).

Yeah, but you get a zillion coolness points per gallon.

I Totally agree!

One interesting thing i've seen is that as time has passed (i began drooling over mogs & pinz a decade+ ago) because of the 25 year? import issue you can get some really nice imports these days. Of course the prices have gone up accordingly ,(

PS...a quick image search for Pinzgauer RV on google and i found a fun one.
