2008-2016 dodge caravan/town & county - tail lights on with hatch up

I have converted my 2016 Cry. Town & Country and have my kitchen facing outwards under the rear hatch. When I have the rear hatch open. the tail lights stay on (likely safety feature) but it's obviously not good for the battery. I'd love to be able to just leave it open for long periods of time, possibly even sleep with it open in certain circumstances.

Any advice or ideas of how to change these types of configurations.

You might install a toggle switch to bypass the door open sensor/switch.
