My story from this past week is my message.
In summary, I am seeing first hand more and more "mixed receptions" near the last of the Caravans, either:
a) "Go away - we don't want you."
b) "I will help you if you follow the virus guidelines."
My past five days:
The charging system for my auxiliary "house" batteries failed Monday, March 23, so I looked for a place to charge them until I could diagnose and perform repairs.
I went to several RV parks in and around Parker, AZ looking for a place to moor for a few days so that I could charge my batteries while shopping for parts and performing repairs.
[Question: Is there anywhere else I can pay for a 30 amp or 15 amp outlet to charge my aux batteries other than an RV park?]
I drove through several RV parks which appeared about 70% occupancy, but the main office told be "Sorry we're not taking any new business until this virus thing is over." Asking them for other local RV parks they would refer me to, they said "I think we're all doing basically the same thing - no new business due to the virus because we want to protect our current residents."
I fortunately found one RV park on the outskirts of town who had a few spots left and rented one to me. I charged my batteries and performed my repairs, but was met with a mixed reception.
Two old codgers were my first welcoming party. "Where are you from?!? You don't live here and we don't want no virus people in our park! Well, since they let you in, don't shop at our stores since that's for us!"
Unsettling; understandable; a first for me.
Another welcoming party to stop by were "outsiders" (a family from Canada) who had been there since before the outbreak. They were friendly, welcoming and cautious. We followed the social distancing guidelines, swapped stories and got to know one another over a few days.
I experienced similar mixed receptions in town (Parker) while shopping for repair parts and supplies - either suspicion or empathy.
What did I learn?

- Resources that I thought would always be there for me are now not as easy to find.
- Strangers are beginning to take sides.
