Obtaining a Free Bus

    ahhh love the new forums!

I agree, the new site looks great, although I had a time logging on with my mobile device (my mac is broken again), but I'm here now, and that's what counts, right?

OK, tough one. What phone do you like?

I'm a really old school guy, but my all time best smart-ohone was my Nokia 6620. It's too bad Nokia doesn't re-issue a modern version of the 6620. BTW my 6620 still works. I also have a Nokia 2600 classic semi-dumb phone that still works. Currently i'm using a Nokia C3, and recently bought an...

    CB, is it worth it?

Chicken Band was great 30 yrs ago, I had a 5 channel Executive, a LaFayette
23, a Royce 40, and ssb rigs, but placing CB on 11 meters was crazy from the start, it's just a mass of noise and skip these days. Eventually I think the FCC will close 11 meters to CB, and...

Trying to decide what phone/internet combo to get

I personally don't need 3 or 4G, GPRS and EDGE work fine for me, so My AT&T hobbled Nokia C3 semi-smart phone is eligible for my carrier's $50 unlimited talk, message, and data plan.
Hugs

Old timers, what was your first van?

Do you remember your 1st van? Mine was a 1967 Ford Falcon passenger van. With a straight 6, and a 3 on the tree manual transmission, would have normally given great fuel mileage. But with 3 carbs, high lift cam, and headers, it was a rocketship.

    MRE's?

If you're on a sodium restricted diet, then MRE's are not a good choice. Otherwise they are generally tasty and nutritious, a better value would be to buy the entrees rather than the full meals. I used to buy cases of 72 entrees from www.cheaperthandirt.com

My Van Has a Mind of it's Own! - Help!!

    Re: the battery cables
When i bought Casper (97 Chevy Express Hightop) he had electrical issues, which i found
to be caused by too many positive connections at the side terminal. When i replaced the
battery, i bought a dual terminal with both side and top posts. Separating the...

What type inverter do you use?

Nemo wrote: I lean toward being less plugged in, and in time maybe can totallly unplug <grin>
I whole heartedly agree, i have a cheapo 400 watt modified sine wave, but i rarely use it anymore. Mostly everything is 12 volts or non -...

    Reducing Weight

synthetic oils make a lot of sense, anything to reduce drag wither internal or external. I use synthetics in Casper's engine, trans, wheel bearings, and rear, and a K&N air filter. But i still carry a lot of weight (close to the max gross weight) that's not possible to remove, since the...

I'm going to check out this van tomorrow

    Hi Mr. Noodly,
That's an awesome little vehicle, maybe when gas is $10 a gallon, we'll all have little vans like that. Hugs

    Stopping Condensation

I'm at the point in my life where i don't really give a rip if the windshield gets foggy, sometimes the condensation gets so bad, especially when i cook, that i'll have to scrape the inside of the windshield, when it gets cold outside. Most of the cops around here know i live in my van, and i go...

    Going small fundamentally change you?

I've been living in roughly 90 sq ft for the last 28 yrs, and loving it, but on occasion rented or lived with a person who had a standard home. Like you the newness wore off pretty quickly, and the extra space actually became a burden, more to clean, heat, cool, etc...

a shout out for Mr Heater

I did a video on the new style Portable Buddy Heater. My old portable buddy lasted 11 years, so i think it was a pretty good value. The new Buddy has a swivel connection for the filter and supply hosem which makes it much easier to connect in limited space areas. The burner surface...

    Rrrrrrrust...

Yes i've used the Por 15 stuff, and it does work well, but it's more important to prevent rust in the first place. Whenever your van is up on a lift, you can take a peek. I heard stories of spraying used engine oil under the vehicle...

    Trying New Duct Tape

As i alluded to in another forum, i'm trying a different kind of Tape. I've used really cheap stuff, $1 a roll that lasts maybe 3 weeks, good "Duck" brand tape that lasts 4 months...

You might be a vandweller if: you have a little black book, but instead of names & numbers, it has sleep spot locations and notations.

is there such a thing as a stick shift van?

The last stick van i ever drove was a 75 E 150 shorty wheelbase. It was a 4 on the floor. I owned a 67 Ford Falcon window van, with a 3 on the tree shift. I do recall that Chrysler built a stick minivan in 1980, but was discontinued after 1 year. Modern auto boxes are very good, and get...

    Re-using 2 liter bottles

Speaking of duct tape, i was shopping for insulation panels, and found some all weather "white" coloured duct tape. They also had -40* duct tape, that was coloured "blue", and claims that it sticks more powerfully the lower the temp gets.<br...
