First night...run in with the COPS

I don't think that you can consent to a partial search. I don't use any illegal drugs or have anything illegal in my van. If a cop asks to search my van I plan on saying "I don't consent to any searches of my vehicle". Combined with my anxiety disorder that should really get them excited...

    Buying vehicle with 200k+ miles

If it's a really good deal I might consider it if you don't drive a lot and just plan on sleeping in it. I only put a few hundred miles per year on mine. Most of it is just driving from one sleeping spot to another every few days.

First night...run in with the COPS

My username refers to the hilarious Saturday Night Live sketch where Chris Farley says:" I live in a van down by the river! " I live in a large city and move my van every 3 days to avoid problems. I've never parked by a river, but sometimes I park near a lake. I also agree with the people...

First night...run in with the COPS

;Does it peel off easy? Have you done it before? Yes, it works great. Easy to peel off.

Do you really need a roof vent?

I installed a 9 inch vent from eBay. I always keep it open a crack so that the moisture from my breath can escape and it helps to prevent the front windows from streaming up (which is a huge sign that tells everyone that someone is sleeping inside). In the summer the vent has a quiet, low...

    Astro Van Help

I live in a passenger-style Astro. I tossed the rear seats and ripped out the carpet, then put a sheet of insulfoam and a sheet of plywood down. I then sprayed the inside of the windows with black Plastidip and covered them with sheets of insulfoam, then covered the entire rear living area...

First night...run in with the COPS

I have never had cops knock on my van. I don't let any light escape, I keep quiet (headphones), and when I need to move I do it in slow motion so the van doesn’t rock. I spray painted my rear windows with black Plastidip so it looks like dark tinted windows and can be peeled off if I...

Suspicious Person: "Do you live in this neighborhood?"

After the "suspicious person" thing I started parking a few miles away and moving my van to a different street every 3 days. Then there was a college kid who didn't even live in the area he just parked during the day and took the bus to University . He never saw me, just my van. He started...

Suspicious Person: "Do you live in this neighborhood?"

That's how I imagine her. I didn't reply to her. I felt like why does she need to know the identity of every person who parks a vehicle on the street? It's like maybe she enjoys having the power. I just ignored her and kept...

Suspicious Person: "Do you live in this neighborhood?"

My van is a very clean Astro van that I always keep washed and waxed and I never keep junk in the front seat section. I have the inside of all the rear windows spray painted black with this rubber stuff that is supposed to make it easier to peel off when I need to sell the van. I...
