Just need to vent, woman to women...

Thank you all for your kind words and inspiration. I am feeling much better about my situation today. Though I am sure I will have more "self-pity" moments along the way, I still remain positive and determined to live out my dreams. No, I won't be homeless (yet) as my ex-son-in-law is having me...

Just need to vent, woman to women...

I keep saying that the reason I am not on the road yet is because "life happens" but, I finally realized that it is because I keep screwing my life up myself... 16 years of marriage and my ex-husband then decided to tell me that my dreams were just that, my dreams - that he had no interest in...

    Insulated Foam Board covering

I have been watching videos on youtube of people using the foam boards to build their cabinets - they use a paint to adhere vinyl screen to it and then paint over it to make it strong enough to withstand - I am building a diy truck slide-in camper and that is what I am going to attempt to do.

    Hello future friends and family!

Hi Deb. I am also from Ohio (however, currently right across the border in PA for a couple more months). My goal was to have my truck camper built and be out of this part of the country in October but, as usual, life happens. I have just about everything for the build except the lumber and...

No BLM out east, but how about TVA?

I have lived in Guntersville, AL - beautiful place - lots to do - and Albertville is on a few miles up the hill and has all you need when you need to shop and such - the hospital in Arab is a good place and again only a few miles away.

    Toyota Tacoma Short Bed

I read the entire build on the foam truck camper and must take a moment to thank you for posting the link - I have been working on buying all my supplies, tools, and so on and my main concern was with using so much plywood - I have been worried that my Dodge Dakota Extend wouldn't hold the...

    I know nothing about electrical

Now that I have gotten such great advice - I have decided to go with my camp stove and a Coleman camp oven that sits on top - will also do away with the crock pot and drip coffee pot and go with a percolator - will also be buying a propane heater for the colder times. As stated before, because...

    I know nothing about electrical

I was looking at the combo - toaster oven, griddle, and coffee pot - can't remember the brand at the moment

    I know nothing about electrical

I do have a propane camp stove and was looking at one of the ovens you just set on top - the toaster oven and crock pot would not be used on a regular basis - I prefer to cook on my stove. I also plan to have a propane heater.

    I know nothing about electrical

Is there any "pros" on here that can truly help me figure out my needs and how to hook up everything to meet my electrical needs - I am planning on both house electric and solar - I want to wire the solar though I won't be adding it right away - hoping that 400 watt will be enough. My must...

Not new but, it's been some time...

Sorry for taking so long to respond. My van build was all but perfect but would have worked. I took out both back rows of seats - ripped up the capet and insulated and laid new subfloor - then I drilled holes in the interior walls just big enough to use foam insulation. After all that I built a...

    SSI

I have seen a few posts on SSDI but I need to ask about van dwelling when on just SSI: I don't have enough work credits to be eligible for SSDI so the only income I get is SSI - the amount is enough for me to survive on my own if I'm not paying rent and utilities so I am sure this is what I want...

Not new but, it's been some time...

Thank you. I loved my van conversion when it was done but...now my ex-BIL is living full-time in it in a friends yard so at least it wasn't a total loss.

Not new but, it's been some time...

Life happens, (i.e. divorce, birth of grandbabies, loss of daughter, etc...), and I have had to abandon many dreams, (some permanently, some temporarily), but here I am again, holding on to my dream of living a "free" life. You may, but probably not, remember that my last endeavor on my journey...
