Thanks for your help, going to see it in a few days. I’m not crazy about the interior, but it looks like it would be easy to change. I’m debating if I should pay more now, but my gut says start out cheap, upgrade later.

I want my first van to be cheap, to minimize debt. Will be driving in the city for the most part, may even park this and use it as an extra bedroom for a few months. Looks like it has had a lot of work done already. Any...
Good idea...I have camped out in my car...an 85 Corolla hatchback. It is a little small to sleep in, I’m 5’8”. A big part of this is saving money. I have a job that pays about 30k Canadian, but I can’t save much. And, the idea of having a mobile home is very attractive. I have driven across the...
My parking space is right under my 2nd storey window, so maybe. But I’m thinking of investing in a lithium power pack, that can be hauled into my place to be charged, and later incorporated into a solar set up.
Oh, yeah rent would totally be split. It is fairly temperate here, rarely gets below freezing. There are lots of visiting students in my city, so could find someone here short term.
It’s an apartment complex, I pay for each parking spot. I think the vehicle just needs to be insured, and since I’d just be sleeping there, I think it is pretty low impact. My neighbors are all myob immigrant families, I think no one would care.
I’m fascinated by the simplicity of the van dwelling lifestyle, but I’m a bit chicken on jumping in. I’m the kind of person who is still (at 46) getting to know myself. I’m also still rather attached to my lovely one bedroom rental. I have a full-time job here in the city, and my housing costs...
$12,000 CAD for this 92. Is this wildly overpriced? These are in fairly high demand around here, and prices are higher than elsewhere. I think it has been local, so no road salt exposure.

Anyone want to chime in with their experiences? I am interested in this lifestyle, and debating if I should take the plunge. I am not thinking of traveling much at this time, but living and working in town here. I notice there are a few really nice looking vans here for sale right now, anyone...

Looks awesome, except for being black. Wondering about parts, repairs etc. Opinions?
Ok, more info...it needs a new windshield, side door, horn and exhaust to pass local inspection
ok, found out it needs a new windshield, side door...
Well, I went down there and looked around...right at the exact spot from the map, there was some hydro line repair, so I couldn't get to that part, but didn't see anything from my explorations...so not sure what's up. Maybe seller will get back to me...
Thanks to all who replied...I am gonna try and take a look at it. :)
This prolly sound ridiculous, but I have never driven a van before.
If I ended up getting this hulk, it would sit in storage until I get some skill in driving a big vehicle. But seems like a nice one, so may be...
Opinions...can these things be fixed etc nowadays?

A 74, for $1300. I have no mechanical skills...
Thx, d
Yes, that stuff will still be in the van, so it doesn't save weight...but definitely a table and chair that can be put away, before popping the cot out, that makes two rooms in one...dining room and bedroom! Actually, I did this kind of thing in my tiny apartment...everyone else in my...
Nice to see some interest in the topic! I had an idea of securing the foldaways in a special holders (that would need to be custom built) over the wheelwells.

Cot: <a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/Simmons-Beautysleep-Foldaway-Guest-Bed-Cot-with-Memory-Foam-Mattress/21961402"...
I was thinking about a possible way to handle the small space of a van...

Nearly all the conversions I see have some permanent stuff built in, like a bed platform with storage under it, and some counter-like surfaces.

What about using folding furniture that can be put away...
