    Van build oops!

A NEMA Enclosure works great for wires. About 25.00 - 40.00 on average. It protects them from moisture too. Here is ours. We installed the Fuse block inside and mounted the enclosure under the bed. All wires in wire loom outside of the enclosure.

Still trying to figure out bed in my car

While a bit larger then a CRV, here is a bed I built for a FJ Cruiser. About 72" bed length. Using a piano hinge to allow for a portion of the bed to extend when the passenger seat is moved forward thus increasing the available bed length. I used a large diameter (maybe 2" PVC) PVC pipe to...

    Solar Generator possible issue

I will message you a diagram. By the way, I double checked and I used 6 gauge from the battery to the converter and not 8 awg like I mentioned.

    Sold Honda Generator EU1000i Calif.

I have a like new Honda EU1000i generator. It is very lightweight for a generator at about 28lbs. We carried with us in our FourWheel Camper on three campouts. The rest of the time, it was garaged with fuel stabilizer and started every other month. Since we have a new camper vehicle, we have...

I just put a down payment down

Oh Ok now I understand. I know when I purchased vehicles through the bank or credit union, I still didn't make a payment till about 30 days after taking delivery of the vehicle. Usually a bank won't loan on a vehicle without a VIN unless your loan wasn't based on the vehicle itself.

Lithium Ion Batteries and the Phenomenon of Thermal Runaway

I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said. However, I worked in a Telecom/Data Center maintaining a string of 48 batteries tied together. Each battery was 2 volts and two strings of negative 48 volts. Charged 24 x 7 at 52-54 volts. I entered the battery room and found my...

I just put a down payment down

I am confused. You have made the first loan payment and are about to make a second payment and you have not received the van yet? Can you explain as I have never bought a vehicle and made a loan payment without first seeing the vehicle and taking possession. A family member went looking for a...

    Is it possible without Solar

Noticed you mentioned parking in a family members driveway? Can you grab power there? Having stealth solar for you doesn't sound like an issue if you are parking in the driveway. With a bit of solar you might be able to always keep your portable power station charged. What kind of vehicle...

Remote customer service work while vandwelling

I know that often they want you to have a fiber or cable connection for many of these jobs. Was just looking at some today. They said no cellular and they prefer a hardwired connection to PC. Hope you can find a position though that works for you. Starlink if it fits in the budget is an...

Need portable solar panels for my power station

I agree with Tx2Sturgis and frater secessus on their comments. I run multiple EB70S like the author has. I have used flexible panels, rigid and folding. There are often very good reasons for not installing a rigid panel and a folding or portable panel works fine. The latest folding 200 watt...

    Paranoia

Glad to see some others here sharing good info instead of only criticizing. Sounds like you have traveled a lot and I would imagine you have gained some good insight as to where is safe and where you may need to move on. I really don't believe having a motion light is going to help much if...

It might be going up for sale. I will check with them. :)

Seeking advice on a Chevy Express / GMC Savana

Those former FBI vans are well constructed inside. We have a family member with a former government nuclear chase vehicle. I know that might sound really silly but after seeing this van, I believe it. It is built like a tank and had most of the proprietary electronics removed prior to...

Seeking advice on a Chevy Express / GMC Savana

Just another comment on the extended. I always park in regular parking spaces without any trouble. The difference in length between a regular and extended is 20". Just a bit longer then my computer keyboard. I don't notice the length when driving. If I was in downtown L.A. parking then yes...

    Going to retire

Great idea David. Retire and go part-time and get a feel for it. I would suggest if possible either trying out some different vehicles for a bit or buying an older unit and testing it out to make sure its the right type of vehicle. Everything is a compromise when it comes to vehicles. Figure...

Seeking advice on a Chevy Express / GMC Savana

We have a 2020 Express Extended. It is long at just over 20'. Only time length is noticed is on a tight U turn. However the extra length inside makes it always worth it for us. We have the 6.0 engine. The new vans that have the 6.6 I have only heard great things about it. Lots of power and...

    Filter, Tap or Buy

Thank you Frood. We do carry another 7 gallons in a separate container with tap water. We typically are not on the road for more then a few weeks. I went with the smaller 2.5 gallon containers as they fit great in the side door opening of our van. I have shoulder issues and thus the lighter...

    Filter, Tap or Buy

A bit different discussion then the other ongoing gray water discussion. We use two 2.5 gallon water containers filled with either store bought water or Reverse Osmosis water. Our thought is that our little sink will be mainly used for just filling our water bottles and this way we can always...

    Probably leaving the forum

I feel the pain on both sides. I have owned and moderated a number of forums for RV's and Motorcycles. Most started out as a hobby to gather folks into a forum that wasn't already addressed by another forum. Yes, in the old days, you could run a forum for 20.00 MRC or less. I guess some that...
