    12V Freezer?

Your assessment is correct. I invested in a Li extraction company and was appalled that less than 2% Li was extracted from the salt, the rest also useable. The Germans are being forced into alternative fuels by Green Party, at the same time shutting down all of its nuclear power plants (seven)...

How do u live on $700/month, truly?

This is a relevant question. I used to follow several that 'hit the road' and only one channel gave a rundown of their costs, a married couple with deep pockets. What you do not know is the number that fail at their ventures because they kept old habits such as dining out, getting entertained...

    What's in your van kitchen!

Great idea about bread machine--far superior in quality over store-bought; and the prices these days are ridiculous for commercial stuff. The old stone hand grinders are fine, too. You can find mortar & pestle made in Mexico out of rock for corn and wheat berries.

    Leaving loved ones behind.

Have a plan. A good start is save, save not spend, spend. Buy used closes, or factory discards. What are your skills? If you are good with hands (trade skills) the world is your Apple. Even if you had some skills in electrical, plumbing, hvac, water heaters, home repairs, etc. you can go very...

Congratulations! But keep a tight lip, otherwise you will cause a stampede. Only kidding, but seriously, Nevada mountains are a hidden gem to most Americans. I've been thinking about that area for decades! PS I live in AZ.

Additionally, AZ is now online for registrations and renewals. In my cases I was required to go to DMV because of corrected vision. Also a different card...

    Driving in Mountains and Hills

Thoughts: When using downshift (manual or auto transmission) there is greater degradation of the transmission fluid; additionally, the brake fluid. Stay on top of both of these systems; but the automatic transmission system in particular with its filter replacement and flush. Off road driving...

    best minimalist sleeping pad?

It is good to have options. As for SUV, my two cents may not be worthy; so here goes. I am not in a van dwell, not yet. But as a bachelor (75 going on 76) I've had many thoughts about simple living, no matter the space, large or small. When I look at the remarkable ingenious ideas put into play...

    Jury Duty

Two ways: on line, by letter. I have done both, each method works. There is usually in the form online for 'remarks' as to why you are by circumstance unable to fulfill jury duty. The moderator will then return a message as to whether your reason is accepted, or not accepted. Jury duty is...

Ex-FBI Surveillance Van ( 2008 Chevy Express Cargo converted camper van) - less than 30k for possible sale

You are making the proper decision given your choices. Rent is horrific, all over the country because our industrial base is shattered; this leaves Wall Street, industrial consolidations, etc. in power; and that power is interest (usury) to cause inflation and debt. A great start is working at...

thinking about getting a new skill

You do NOT have to go to school to get trained. Many companies will train people for nursing homes. The key, of course, is not losing money in rent, which is what Bob Wells preaches. The challenge we have is getting ourselves in two predicaments: [1] Getting ourselves into a corner where we feel...

    Newbie Seeking Internet Access Advice

I too have Consumer Cellular, Android v. 11 Motorola g. I do not know of any plan that avoids throttling. Yes, YT chews up data. I changed my Settings/Mobile Network/Data warning & limit from 2G to 3.93TB/3000G, to avoid distracting 'data warning'. I changed this month to unlimited data $50...

    Passenger van

Great commentary. A conversion van is probably the best solution aside from a tiny house (on wheels) or RV. I like those Dodge conversions from Canada; well worth the price for longevity. You made a great choice keeping your residence, and going with the conversion van.

    5X8 enclosed cargo trailer? or?

Thanks for sharing. The Suburban is a tremendous vehicle, although newer models are full of electronic fixtures. You are one of a few that realizes the value of dually (dual axle). Pulling a trailer brings into play a multitude of forces, many of which you've described. I've lived in northern...
