Advantages of Large Suv over medium sedan?

I am with you on the SUV option. I had an Expedition for regular use and recently purchased a 4Runner for that Toyota reliability and interior room for my off road adventures. A Van or RV may be better to live out of but I really enjoy the limitless possibility's and off road capabilities I can...

    When was the forum sold?

Bob was great, but he moved on and sold out. 20 year old's can be nomads too and live in a Van or RV by choice or not. The forum is really dead and the new management has not done much to enhance the forum. Just seeking donations relentlessly.

Slime in my drinking water!! FROM WHAT???

Bleach is the way to go. Its also very safe, just don't deliberately mix it with anything else but water. Low amounts of bleach (drops) can do wonders for purification and preventing slime and the like. Looks like he went the creative rout rater then the tried and true bleach method used for...

    Trailer section?

Exactly why this forum should have a Trailer section.

    Trailer section?

Well there are a few different sections, but no Trailer section which is odd since there is even a Hybrid/Electric section. Would make sense since that kind of build is very different. Lots of additional safety concerns and challenges vs a Van. But I really don't think the new owners are...

    Save Money on Gas video

Speed doesn't seem to effect my MPG too much and my time is limited, but I will come to slow rolling stop when I can. I also found the biggest thing is turning off the vehicle rather than idling. So much fuel is wasted at idol. You will get better MPG by not using your AC. Bob is right, but if...

How deep is it good to burry poop?

In Scouting I was taught ~6"-8", at least 200 ft from any water sources and to only use the hole once. The standard 6-8" is because in less dark rich soil in a desert or dryer areas there isn't as much dark organic soil as a forest to break it down. Dig as deep as you want in a dark rich forest...

how you set up your SUV or other car

I have a 4Runner I use for my adventuring, daily driving and everything else. So it needs to be versatile and become just a regular SUV when needed. My front passenger seat is the one seat that i use for various storage needs for the day/night. Cooler storage at night, day pack for day trips...

    AirTag for tracking stolen rig?

I always highly reamend a full alarm system with tracking like the Compustar T13. As with anything you want layers of deterrent/protection. Its super easy and works with any smart phone but will be a bit of an investment.

    Driving with photocopy of license

I am with WanderingRose, get a new license and use your parents address. You get VA stuff there, its only logical.

FREE! - 5 Gal Orange Jerry Can w/ Spout

Can you state the law? I cant find it? There was law passed for new cans, but didn't ban old ones.

    Driving with photocopy of license

P.O. Box will not likely be acceptable as an address for your license.

    Driving with photocopy of license

If you have a valid license, you have a valid license, even if its not on you. But you are required to have it on your person while driving, not a copy. LEO's can look up licenses by your name, date of birth and address if you don't have it on you, so a copy will be helpful to the LEO. You...

    Where to get drinking water

Hmm. There is free water everywhere. I utilize a few water filters to simply pull from a stream or whatever if I cant get to a camp ground that has water if my 20l can runs out. Its strange to pay for water, though I too will do it for convenience on occasion.

Installing battery switch \\\ What the heck???

Glad you figured out a way to make it work. The way it looks when the terminal bolt is tight to the battery its supposed to hold/sandwich the whole switch (bottom and top) to the body of the battery so they wont come apart.

Installing battery switch \\\ What the heck???

Why would it float up and touch the metal of the control screw? The connection is made with the bottom of the green/black knob touching the base when screwed in. Looking at your 1st picture its solidly mounted to the battery terminal and pressed against the body of the battery so noting should...

Pick an address that you can count on indefinitely. Plenty of people have multiple homes and use one address even if they are rarely there.

New York Times article - How NOT to experience van life........

Reading that was stressful. lol I would hate to live in a van with that state of mind. This statement really got me. "I wondered aloud, in a nonchalant tone that made it clear I wasn’t asking for myself, if there was “definitely enough oxygen in the van, right?”
