    Newcomer hello

I got 4-inch foam from Joann’s, which I cut to the length I needed. I covered that with a waterproof “outdoor cushion” cover. It’s been surprisingly comfortable.

Options for maintaining car insurance with no physical address

Checking in to share my car insurance surprise! I sold my house in Oregon last summer. My current residence is in the same state where a friend and his wife own a home. (It is currently important for me to keep my doctor, though I may reconsider this shortly.) I updated my address with my car...

Do I really need to tint the windows?

I did tint, which I love and wish I'd done years ago. My window covers are Reflectix covered with matte black fabric, so not shiny. This does eliminate any reflectiveness, but with the tint there wasn't much of that.

    State Park Entry Fees

In Oregon, at least, the daily fee is included in the camping fee.

    mail forwarding question

Interesting – from my own experience, Oregon has very high fees. My car registration is $260 or so for 2 years (state + county). Had a BIL move up from CA and was astounded at the fees. As you said, we have no sales tax and gotta get the $$ from somewhere...

Any Graphic Designers Out There-Have a Question

Yes, ex is a spectacularly talented graphic designer who has been working in the field since college. He has been unable to find work in his profession (freelance and not) and it is killing him.

    Positives pf coved 19

I was definitely feeling that in the early days. Like, OK, what's different except that everyone else is doing it too? Reading those early posts now feels like another world. I'd be surprised if there are any takeaways from this.

    Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all in the van dwelling community. Like Rabbit, I am very grateful for all the help and support I have received here. I am having the hardest Thanksgiving of my life right now but I look forward to better days ahead. Blessings to you all.

Where do you shower (when you don't have a shower in your van)?

I was planning on signing up with Planet Fitness (~$20/month) but just found out that I may be able to get access to those facilities and many more through my health insurance for ~$25/month. Seems like an interesting option.

Remove the back seats, sleeping on passenger side?

Have you checked out YouTube for what other car owners have done? I know that with the Prius, nearly all campers sleep on the passenger side and many long-termer have taken out the back seat in favor of building a platform for storage.

    Does anyone use "Anytime Mailbox"?

That's good to know. I hope there are cheaper options. I'd love one that gives me these services as well as an Oregon street address. Since the rate is based on the number of pieces of mail received, I'm concerned that the amount of junk mail I receive will force me to pay a higher rate.

    Does anyone use "Anytime Mailbox"?

Wondering if anyone uses "Anytime Mailbox." The service is interesting - you can manage your mail by phone, they forward, scan, toss, or shred. There are a variety of plans, depending on how much mail you expect per month. The how-to looks sticky though - you can do a change of address TO but...
