I did tint, which I love and wish I'd done years ago. My window covers are Reflectix covered with matte black fabric, so not shiny. This does eliminate any reflectiveness, but with the tint there wasn't much of that.

Interesting – from my own experience, Oregon has very high fees. My car registration is $260 or so for 2 years (state + county). Had a BIL move up from CA and was astounded at the fees. As you said, we have no sales tax and gotta get the $$ from somewhere...

Have you checked out YouTube for what other car owners have done? I know that with the Prius, nearly all campers sleep on the passenger side and many long-termer have taken out the back seat in favor of building a platform for storage.
