    Break-in or theft

I have this crazy idea, but don't know if it works. I though I'd get an old iphone, port the number over to StraightTalk (walmart pre-paid phone/data plans). Then set it up in my icloud acct and activate "find my iphone" feature. I'd then let the pre-paid plan lapse and securely connect it to...

How do u live on $700/month, truly?

Once I'm of retirement age and have medicare, this might be possible, but as it is right now, I have more than $850/mo in medical premiums, meds, treatments, etc. So if I followed the plan to live on $900/mo, it would actually cost me between $1700 to $2100 per month, eating dog food. 🙃😖😑

    Escort service ?

The ads I see here are always for whatever the latest thing I was looking at buying for my rig, like hot water heaters, showerheads/faucets, and sinks lately.

Songs about nomadic life, homelessness, etc.

Love this song that is somewhat related, depending on your perspective:

Songs about nomadic life, homelessness, etc.

It's on the heavy side for most people, but I really like this song: Wherever I May Roam by Metallica. I have this quote on my Ambulance wall: "Anywhere I roam, where I lay my head is home. Carved upon my stone: My body lies, but still I roam" ---------- ---------- LYRICS: And the road...

    Best Blanket

OP, not sure what type/size of blanket you are looking for, but I like to use a mummy bag with the zipper open, draped over me like a blanket. Mummy bags have a comfy/warm pocket in the bottom to keep your feet covered and warm.

    Best Blanket

Right. When down fill gets wet, it loses its loft and goes flat. Without loft to trap air, its insulating ability is shot. Because of this and the lifghtness, we all use sleeping bags, blankets, and coats with synthetic fills (e.g. Holofill, Quallofil, etc) If you know you will never expose...

    The Box Truck Project

BTW, I found a video of some guys doing an econoline swap (although different motor) without lifting the cab. It sounds like you already guys know what you're doing, but if you need any tips or want to avoid their mistakes, it might be helpful to you. Watch out for lots of F-bombs if that...

    The Box Truck Project

interesting. Somewhere I got the idea the cab had to come off and as a result, when shopping for rigs, I didn't consider any with mid-higher mileage because it would be cost-prohibitive to do a swap with all the labor of cab lifting. It's good to know it's not really necessary. I'll be...

    The Box Truck Project

So will that motor/trans come out/in without lifting the cab or is it necessary to lift the cab off the frame, etc?

    Probably leaving the forum

I'm neither "in a huff" or "offended". I was careful to recognize it was minor and nit-picky and wanted to offer constructive criticism.

    Probably leaving the forum

Thanks for posting those benetits for the sake of the conversation in this thread -- I had forgotten what they were. I'm very new to the forum and getting a feel for it, but if I end up feeling like it's a good resource/community, I'll likely become a supporting member. There's one thing...

New York Times article - How NOT to experience van life........

I ran across that article too. Although the writing was okay, it was really only about her personality and not vanlife in any consideration. Some people should just stay indoors.

    Diesel Heater Air Intake Pipe

As long as I had a monoxide detector, I think I'd be comfortable with this approach.

    Diesel Heater Air Intake Pipe

I think you're picturing somethning different than i was. I'm talking about a gradual twist. Plus we are not dealing with high velocities/volumes here and as long as the inner diameter is maintained and bends are gradual, any change to flow is negligible.

    Diesel Heater Air Intake Pipe

My understanding is you have two very isolated systems/circuits. One uses fuel, air, and a little electricity (glowplug) to heat the inside chamber producing a "toxic" gas byproduct (CO) that must be exhausted outside. The other circuit passes fresh/cool air over the heatsink fins of the...
