I Need Some Advice On T.V. Service In My Van

lol - I am long past childhood! I grew up in South Africa and it arrived in the country in my final year of high school, late 70s, and that only two hours a day, one in English and one in Afrikaans. We never missed it, really, not knowing any other way. The only time I ever remember really...

Hell! I thought we were back on elections again. Must be something to do with sports - ??

    House Plants?

I am well known for having brown fingers (not green!). However, this came to my attention recently and I am so excited about it. Now I carry around my own little garden in my car and eat at least one healthy thing with every meal (even my peanut butter sandwiches get a handful!). Lots of fun...

Options for maintaining car insurance with no physical address

Beware of licensing your vehicle in these states. Texas, for example, requires an inspection every x (?) number of years. Not going to spout the exact requirements due to ignorance, but "buyer beware". CA, of course, has become a joke, even requirements for non-residents.

Options for maintaining car insurance with no physical address

If you're with Geico they will. They did me, after many years with them. From that experience I learned to lie. (Which for me is difficult.)

I Need Some Advice On T.V. Service In My Van

Here's an option - throw it away. I consider myself EXTREMELY fortunate to have spent my childhood in a country where there was no TV. How different my life would have been, and would be today. I feel very sorry for today's youth, nothing but a vehicle to transport a screen. Imagine if everyone...

Options for maintaining car insurance with no physical address

It isn't the government, it is the insurance companies - who use any excuse they can find to not pay out. A Catch-22 situation for us, the law says we must have it but no one will provide it. The government needs to step in and require that insurance is provided to everyone regardless. Didn't...

    Aframe Campers at the RTR

Good try! At least it's the best of a bad bunch - one hopes.

    Aframe Campers at the RTR

Appreciate the response. However, don't do FB. I understand that in this day and age social media is how to get along in society, but.... (too many reasons, would need to start a new thread on life philosophy!).

    Aframe Campers at the RTR

After looking at campers for 5 years, I finally found one that will work for me. These Aliners look really un-intimidating and I am sure I could manage. Went to look at one, it was great, was sent off to Harbor Freight to buy all the bits and pieces, only to return and be told they were all...

Wow, Nevada residency is apparently expensive!!

My experience with Nevada: I was traveling in the north-western part a couple of years ago and as I usually do I began looking for a campsite early afternoon. No luck. I ended up in Reno, still looking, so decided screw it, I will just go the KOA, they always have places for tents. However...

    Evening, all.

I'm no expert, but northern latitudes don't work well for solar. From what I have heard, the UK has 4 seasons - winter, autumn and spring, with the week in-between being summer! A lot of the folks on this forum tend to spend most of their time in the south. Just so you know.

There is always that one thing...

I learned very quickly - in my first couple of weeks on the road - ALWAYS put things back where you found them. Otherwise you are hunting high and low for them. But tape measures???? My ONE thing too. Always buying them and can never find them. When I don't need one they appear in every nook...

    VanLife in the Fiji Islands

Reminds me of some friends of mine who did the same thing - hunted the world high and low to find the safest place. The Cold War was happening and the threat of nukes was high. They found an island in the Atlantic that no one had ever heard of - it was called the Falkland Islands. For those of...

    What are you reading?

That reminds me of a book I enjoyed thoroughly. It is John Powell's trip down the Colorado in 1869 to survey it. What a time they had! https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/8082

    Hello, and gas mileage question

Here's an option that maybe you haven't considered - slow down! Maybe you don't need to do those 2,000-mile trips. Get something you really enjoy and then have slower, shorter, and more satisfying journeys (IMO). Those scenic back roads, stopping to smell the roses. I went thru the same...

    ceiling cargo nets

I found this one and it was highly rated. https://kamchatkagear.com/products/ceiling-cargo-hammock-net?variant=4089613156363 Sadly, been out of stock for years! But it is no doubt the material that makes it so good - "500D Cordura nylon, heavy duty nylon webbing". Not as stretchy as regular...

Options for maintaining car insurance with no physical address

I found out early on that insurance companies won't insure us. Sadly, this causes dishonesty, but in this case one has to break God's law in order to fulfill man's law. I tried to insure the contents of my car but was told that that falls under renter's insurance. That was when Geico found out I...

    How do you do?

I hate to disagree, but nomads DO stay at campgrounds. They provide a home-away-from-home, and I enjoy the luxury when I am able.
