Old school lead acid batteries can indeed be charged at very low temps. Recognize at cold temps lead acid batteries are less efficient, take longer to charge, and frozen engines take a lot more power.
Lithium does not work when cold.
What do you have that runs on 250 volts?
I watched part of the video. It may make 250 volts.
250 volts can easily kill you. This seems like a really dumb idea to me.
You will Not get 5000 watts our of it
The 12 volt compressor fridges take a lot less power. 1 ah at 12.6 volts is 12.6 watts per hour.
Comparing, at 12 volts your are talking 24 ah for 24 hours
Iceco, dometic, etc
I'm glad it worked.
Charging through a cigarette port is a joke.
Next time it doesn't work try wiggling the plug. Unhook the plug and see if it's hot. Ponder why the cigarette plug is hot
So you have a 12 volt dc to 120 inverter which plugs into a 120 to 12 volt converter.
Is the converter outputting 12 volts dc or 12 volts ac?
Why not skip skip the inverter/converter and use a piece of wire and a fuse?
Also, how is the battery ground connected to the engine?
In my suburban I found .6 volts lost between the cab and the engine in just the ground side, and it went up with more load.
To measure use a volt meter and test a good spot on the engine to the battery negative post with accessories...
145 amp alternator at 14 volts is 2000 watts.
That is plenty to charge a lot of battery
How is your house battery connected to the alternator? Through an isolator or diodes? Relay/solenoid?
How big are the wires? How long are the wires?
Lead acid batteries take time to charge regardless how...
I think about it differently. For instance although the specs in the fridge say 200 watt, that is max peak potential.
200 watt is about 15 amps.
I haven't measured mine yet but lots of people claim a reasonable average is 1 ah or 2ah. This means over a period of time, once the fridge and...
Hello! My plan will be a separate very small 12 volt unit and use it as a freezer. Under 300 dollars and wrap it with a blanket for a bit more insulation (leaving vents unobstructed). This would use minimal power as you are not in it all the time
