Trampus has WINDOWS.....well, OK. Portholes.

I got them on Amazon for about $20 each. They are little marine 8 inch portholes. VERY easy to install, each one took less than 30 minutes to install. They didn't come with screws or screen, so the hardware store sold me a little piece of nylon screen for 50 cents, and the screws and nuts were...

    Trampus has WINDOWS.....well, OK. Portholes.

:D Bob installed 6 inch marine portholes in Trampus yesterday. Now I'll be able to see what's going on outside before I open the door. Plus I'm putting the fan in the back and the portholes are in the front, so this should really help with ventilation on warm days. And we installed...

Trampus is looking more like home....

but still have a lot of work to do. Need to get the Fantastic Fan installed, and the rack for the solar panels built, choose a good inverter, and decide what kind of batteries to purchase, and decide where to place the battery bank, and etc, etc, etc...but it'll come together just fine. :)

    Trampus is getting Solar Power!

In other news, Trampus is getting interior locks installed tonight after dinner. Trampus is located 60 miles away from where I live and work, so I have to do a little bit at a time on my days off. I'm also adding two small "porthole" windows so that I can look outside if there's a ruckus going...

    Trampus is getting Solar Power!

Wow, I really wasn't financially ready to purchase Solar Panels, but this deal is one I can't turn down. I was looking on Craigslist and found THREE Kyocera 260W panels and a charge controller for $400 total. Like I said, I wasn't ready financially, but I can't let that deal go. I was planning...

Trampus got a new wall today.

My Amazon order of wallpaper came in today, along with an assortment of hooks, solar lights, and a closet bar bracket. I managed to get most of one wall papered. It's not perfect, but it looks a lot better. It's difficult to put up wallpaper by yourself! The first picture is what Trampus looked...

Trampus gets a partial facelift. :)

Nope, the cabinet doors are made like picture frames...a sheet of Plexiglas with a board behind it. Those are Dollar Tree placemats. They're the exact same size as the "frames" in the doors. However, I did hand paint the two bar stools. I've also ordered solar string lights that I'm going to use...

Trampus gets a partial facelift. :)

I've had a few days off this week, so I've been working on Trampus's interior. The first photo is what he looked like the day I bought him. Last week, I received the bed from Amazon that I ordered the week before. It's usually about $200, but it was on sale for $118, so I bought 2 of...

Tall & Bashing my head - but making progress.

:D I'm 5'10" and the interior of Trampus is 6 ft. Today my husband and I spent some time working on Trampus (really just fiddling around) but we go the used Fantastic fan fixed and working, so that's good. And we changed out the side door lock. The key had been lost a long time before I bought...

    Cheap Perimeter Alarms Solo Boondocking

Well, if I was out in the middle of nowhere and my alarm went off and there was no one to rescue me, I guess I'd just rescue myself. I've had weapons training and I possess a concealed carry permit and several firearms. :) I refuse to be anyone's sitting duck.

Thinking light weight furniture for Trampus.

I'm gradually outfitting Trampus and I'm thinking light. A couple weeks ago, I bought a couple narrow daybeds. Today, I ordered collapsible folding tables and benches. A couple years ago, I had knee surgery and I still have my shower chair,  walker, and bedside commode. The reason I mention...

Be a school bus driver get a job any where

I was a school bus driver for several years and it's a really good job for retirees. All weekends and holidays off, you get to know the kids AND their parents. There's always a stinker or two. I noticed that one person posted about being worried about being falsely accused of child or sexual...

The job of camp host should not be only about a place to park your RV for free

I've worked in a campground for the past 4 1/2 years. I'm not a "camp host" as such, but my duties do include informing campers of the rules, writing incident reports, telling people to "PUT YOUR DOG ON A LEASH!," making sure they don't use metal detectors at our archeological sites, not playing...

    Cheap Perimeter Alarms Solo Boondocking

To be honest, I've NEVER boondocked in my life. However, I have lived alone in a couple places where I didn't have close neighbors. I lived for 8 years near the end of a dead-end road the ended at a cemetery. Lots of people would visit that cemetery in the middle of the night to (I assume) to...

    Code name "Journey"

I love your floor vent idea! My trailer has a small hole in the floor that he came with that the last owner used as a portable A/C exhaust, but I like your idea even better! It won't take much to make that change to a regular floor vent. And I'm SURE that I can come up with a similar bottom...

Trampus is getting flooring and beds!

Just ordered the bed/s for my "get-away" camper. Couch during the day, single or queen bed at night. :) Folds, unfolds, with 5" memory foam mattresses. :) I also found 1/2 inch foam floor "tiles" at Harbor Freight yesterday and bought enough to cover the entire floor of the trailer...

Trampus has a Maxxair fan now! But need a replacement part.

I was lucky and found a used Maxxair vent fan and Maxxair vent cover yesterday for $60. The fan works great and is in good condition. Unfortunately, the single lift arm is bent and won't allow the vent cap to fully close. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement lift arm? We've tried...
