    Finding boondocking sites

Yes to this. I think, personally, that ATV’s/OHV’s are the work of the devil. They are prohibited in some federal campgrounds I have been in, and appropriately so.

    Finding boondocking sites

Thank you so much, that hadn’t occurred to me. 🤔 It’s difficult to let allegations and accusations stand, in multiple threads, unchallenged. I do use the “ignore” button on occasion. ☺️

    Finding boondocking sites

You seem really stuck on this, twomountainlions, and appear to be interpreting those who believe and are experiencing differently our public lands as wanting to destroy these lands by driving all over them with reckless disregard for plants, terrain and wildlife. Which is not the case. Rather...

    Finding boondocking sites

You’re focusing on driving off road and other vehicles off established roads and on public lands, but what is erroneous is the statement “camping is limited to 300ft from rd on most public lands”. That may be true some places, not most, and this is a thread on finding boondocking sites. You...

    Finding boondocking sites

I don’t believe this information is accurate, and am only pressing the issue because this is a thread about finding boondocking sites. 🤔 A quick google search gives me this on dispersed camping from the BLM: https://www.blm.gov/programs/recreation/camping And this on dispersed camping from...

    Finding boondocking sites

Mmm, I’m not sure that’s correct, unless something has very recently changed. I have seen signs saying camping in designated sites only, also no camping within “X” feet of a roadway.

    Old but not done yet

Sorry to hear this, and hope you are feeling better soon. Our goal every day is not to fall.

    Truck camper or rental

Lots of good suggestions here, and I particularly agree that your budget is a biggie, also that you already have the reliable Tundra. Mileage is one factor, but a reliable vehicle, and a Toyota, is a gift from the universe, Your month to month rental could at some point end as an option, too...

Okay... call me a complainer (currently)

This is what zi was responding to, not heat seeking.

Okay... call me a complainer (currently)

Many of the federal and other public campgrounds are first come, first served, or a combination with reservations, and particularly Ocean Pond is FF. The Florida panhandle is where I have spent a lot of time, and found many inexpensive sites, as long as you stay away from the coastal areas.

Where to spend winters and summers

I’m thinking more of an increased presence with BP, and any round up activity that Trump decides to initiate. As he has promised. Me, I would not want to be in the middle of that.

Okay... call me a complainer (currently)

Sorry you’re having so much trouble with your rig, reminds me of our first, a 1977 Barth. AKA “The Money Pit”. 🙄 Get out whatever you use for campground searches and look up public campgrounds in the Florida panhandle and also Louisiana. Federal, city, county, state…inexpensive, some...

Where to spend winters and summers

Given Trump’s threatened crackdowns and deportations, I would agree there will likely be a lot of activity along the border particularly this next year. I would probably stay out of that area for awhile, but then I would personally prefer not to get caught up on anything,

Selling an RV; a "heads-up" tale

I sold my rv a few months ago via certified check, which is what my bank said was safest. The buyer and I went to my bank together, it was deposited and confirmed the funds were available before the rig changed hands. No problems.

    Gray water... why?

And a little grey water on the ground is not an issue many places, unless there are signs up prohibiting it, usually because of bears. And where that is an issue, I have seen it diligently policed.

    Fall goodies

And today I’m making a meatloaf, with two pounds of lean ground beef and one pound of turkey breakfast sausage. Quick oats and a couple of large eggs to bind it together, the usual seasonings, then tomorrow it will be portioned into single serving bags for the vacuum sealer and then the...

    Fall goodies

I roasted a chicken yesterday, and this morning took most of the meat off the bones and put the carcass, juices, skin, everything into a big pot with carrot, celery and onion to make stock for soup. It’s that kind of weather, makes me want to cook.

    Bedbugs

Seriously, try to hire a professional. They probably charge by the square foot, which you have little of, but it seems like a never ending stressor to try to do this yourself. My two cents.

    Bedbugs

I’ve never dealt with bedbugs, but have been told by professionals that they are the biggest problem they deal with, and eradication can take several days. I would consult professional pest control entities to have your van treated, rather than trying to do it yourself, and would also let...
