Descaling & Drying Portable Tankless Water Heater Faucets/Showers

I also prefer citric acid. If I carry the powder, I can make gallons and gallons of an acid solution in tiny batches and not have to carry so many cleaning chemicals. Much less residue than vinegar which leaves a mess if you ask me.

    Maintaining a workout routine

I am considering carrying a large-ish tent so I can do Yoga and stretching NOT in the sand and dirt. Right now I have a tiny cheap tent that I use to mark my campsite and put my solar oven and any overflow that I don't want to stow in my van when I am settled into a place for 2 weeks. It's...

What do you do with your dog when you have to go shopping for food?

I have a small dog and a dog stroller. Most places (even restaurants) let me in and she likes the adventure of a good store.

back on the road and Espar heater broke

Thank you for the tip about nomenclature. It's a "bunk heater" from now on! That should get me past the "OMG it's a woman nomad who doesn't know her rig" filter that goes up when I call places. Yes, it sips from the diesel for the van's engine.

back on the road and Espar heater broke

Thanks! I didn't think to call someone other than Thermoking (who won't see me until September). The display works and gives me this error message: "52 52 57 65 0 0 NO FLAME DETECT" Yes, 40 degrees is just fine to sleep in with adequate bedding. but I like to get up before the sun and it's...

back on the road and Espar heater broke

Espar diesel heaters are great when they work. Thermoking is the only "certified" repair shops, but there are none in my area except Salt Lake City and they say they won't look at it until September !?! I am camping at 9-10K feet and it's 40 degrees when I wake up... would be nice to have a...

    North East Lithium Battery Installer?

I live in Long Island, New York.  My Van has a heavy-duty alternator currently charging 3 auxiliary batteries.  They are dying.  I want to replace with Lithium.  I don't have solar.  Looking for someone in the North-east (New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts) who has the experience...

Summer Gathering, East Coast GTG, Mentoring Program

I just looked at the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks.  There is no "day use" fee, but all the campgrounds are fee-based.  I'm super curious to find out what free camping you know of in Pennsylvania?

How To Keep Pets Safe & Cool OTR

I have a small dog. I can carry her on my back in a dog back-pack. This works for grocery and other shopping. For rest-room stops and restaurants, I put her in an enclosed (breathable) dog-carrier that I can sling on my shoulder, and set on the floor when I am eating. It is black and unless...

    Battery Box location?

not stressed, just smart enough to ask some basic questions.  I'm curious, not fearful.  I agree that fear and anxiety about subtle issues can be a big distraction from larger issues that would clearly move our agendas forward.

    Battery Box location?

you are inspiring me.  I was unfamiliar with the "foil lined hat" concept so I looked it up on Wikipedia.  I am realizing that if I put Reflectix all over, I'd have a sort of Faraday Cage!  How relaxing!  Who knew?  Many hidden perks of van living.   I am a health professional and work with a...

    Condensation under Bed?

Is this why I see people building without painting their plywood?  I thought that unprotected plywood would inevitably absorb moisture  and become moldy in a short time.  I was thinking I need to protect the plywood from moisture.

    Any Healthcare Workers?

Welcome!  I am an acupuncturist (for over 35 years) and am looking to do week-long "house calls" on my ideal patients.  I won't do acupuncture (unless I get licensed in the particular state that I am in), but will train families how to do a simple energy-medicine technique that cools down hot...

    Condensation under Bed?

Thanks for the ideas!  What about putting a mylar sheet (aka "space blanket" or "emergency blanket"...usually under $4) below products like the "Hypervent" or even under elevated wood slats.  Seems like in the cool weather, it would help retain the heat of my body near the bed without causing...

    Battery Box location?

Does anyone worry about EMF pollution (electromagnetic field) with sitting on wires running a lot of current all day long?  I would feel more comfortable having the batteries near the wheels... a few feet away from where I am sleeping or sitting.

    Women Only: I am speechless.

Thanks for the idea of a large-ish silicone funnel.  I was using a flexible large yogurt container, then pour pee into larger container.  I saw a video where a woman stores her pee in a "water flask" that she dedicates to this purpose.  That way, when she is carrying it into an establishment to...

    Condensation under Bed?

Do people use bed slats? Ikea slatted "box springs"? Would be lighter than plywood

The biggest problem with heating a van

Does anyone have a link for such covers?   I am preparing for my van conversion and appreciate this thread, as it seems it will be important to provide a place for my elderly dog to rest that is not right on the floor. If I am just sitting working at my computer or reading, I could put my feet...
